We loved staying at this campground! Just within the campground there was abundant wildlife- lots of birds, elk, mule deer, and we saw a Grand canyon black tarantula on the way to the bathroom! The campground is equipped with showers, toilets, and laundry services and is only a short walk away from the free shuttle which can take you to the rest of the stores and various trails in the south rim. The sites were a bit close together, but we had nice neighbors so we weren't too bothered by it. There were also trees that provided a good bit of shade. We loved the Shoshone point and bright angel trails the most!

We arrived later in the evening and even though there was nobody at the gate, we were able to conveniently get to our site and stay for the night. There was an excellent Ranger presence in the sites. The bathrooms were clean. We had to make an adjustment to our campsite at the last minute because we secured, backpacking permits for several days in the canyon. Making these changes was totally hasslefree. When we were there, it was extremely quiet and even though the sites can be close together since theres little foliage in the way of trees to provide privacy, We never felt like our fellow campers were intruding on our space. Dont forget your flip-flops for the shower!

End of February camping is cold and windy. Only on campground loop open, but usually full at night and pretty empty during the day. Mule deer and elk wander through the camping area. It is 2 miles to the visitor center parking and access to shuttle buses. Good ranger programs and movie.

I was surprised how affordable and easy it was to get a reservation. I know October is starting to be the off season but I think I made reservations about a month out. A simple campsite close to the bathrooms was perfect for me. I would have appreciated better shower facilities. I don't mind paying for them but a better experience would have been appreciated. The stalls were impossibly small with little place to sit or store a change of clothes. I may have been spoiled by the KOA across the country with a much nicer set up. Other than that everything went well and was an enjoyable experience.

I enjoy camping at North Rim and Mather campground every year, usually during the first 2 weeks of Oct for nearly 20 years. This year was again exceptional. First nite was at a regular campsite and due to my disability I got to enjoy 2 more nites at a handicapped site. Nite temps were about 50 and days mid 70s. Great weather for camping in my tent.

Campspots were roomy and fairly private. Clean bathroom facilities and quiet. I would camp here again.

I like the site overall. There is flush toilets, waters, very clean and showers. But one thing, parking is little bit hard for me to back in.

Its stupid that the showers and laundromat close at 10PM. Imagine going for a hike coming back coming back late for any reason and find out the showers that needs no staff to operate is closed.

Mather point for sunrise. Dessert point for sunset. Bright angel trail to grasp the canyons - Not recommend from 10 AM to 4 PM. Red route shuttle all the way to hermits rest! Make sure you walk at least a mile in between. Thank me later :) cheers!

Great, close-knit campground. Good bathrooms.

Stayed here the night of 3/4/21. It was a very chilly night and there we few other campings making the experience quiet and secluded. Perfect spot to camp before backpacking the South Kaibab/Bright Angel loop. If tent camping this time of year be prepared for very chilly nights at the rim. We had 3-season gear and it was fine, but not comfortable.
