The campground was very nice because it was not an RV parking lot. It was a good mix of small RVs and tent sites. People were respectful and quiet. The restrooms were clean and had plenty of toilet paper The camp host came by a couple of times.

Clean sites, adequate parking, clean bathrooms, saw rangers regularly and I think that helped keep people following expectations. Great experience!(But it was too cold )

Very large campground. Close to the canyon. Many, many sites were marked as reserved but ended up being empty the whole time. Rec.gov, fix abandoned reservations. You are ruining the outdoor camping experience.

Clean campground and restrooms. Easy bus ride to all areas of the park from the campground. The only con was the camper services showers not well maintained, but were ok to use.

Overall I would rate Mather Campground very good to excellent. Our stay was quite positive and both my wife and I enjoyed it very much. When we checked in the staff was very friendly, welcoming and helpful in terms of pointing out where facilities were. Unfortunately, the thing that really ruined the whole experience for us occurred on the day of our leaving the campground. My wife suffered from allergies that morning and it took us longer to pack everything up than we normally would. Since checkout was at 11:00 and we were running late due to dealing with my wife's allergies, we had everything in the car, the engine started and were leaving our campsite at about 11:30 when this red head guy in a white pickup pulls in front of us and blocks us in. He then demands to know if we were staying there that night and if we had reservations. I explained the situation and that we were just leaving when he pulled up and then basically gave us "permission to leave". Ok, I get that we were 30 minutes late leaving, but really... I could understand if we had stuff out in the campsite and were not seat belted into our car and trying to leave as we were when he showed up forcing me to stomp on my breaks to avoid hitting him. I have a great deal of respect for NPS personnel and the volunteers that help run our National Parks. However, this guy was simply on a power trip and completely unprofessional. I wish that I had gotten his name, but I didn't. Because of this unnecessarily poor interaction with a campsite host, I rate the overall experience as poor.

Mather Campground was the perfect setting for our campervan. We parked, pull our bikes off the bike and spent 3 days biking the wonderful bike trails from Yaki Point to Hermit's Nest. We'll be back!

Great cell service. Water was a little far away depending on your site and not the easiest spouts to use. Shower hours are extraordinarily inconvenient (6 am to 12:45 pm). Price wasn't bad ($2.50 for 5 min) but we weren't able to use them since who showers before hiking?

Enjoyable campground, everything was fine, mens bathroom close to our site didn't have any hand soap for two days straight. Be aware of the ravens they are the size of a 20 lb dog- not kidding- and they show up in gangs looking to raid your camps site. There were showers at the campground but only available before noon and you have to pay for them- apx. $2.50 for 5 min. Also because of COVID concerns there was little to nothing going on within the park from park guides.

Inside the park! Great set-up areas, several bathrooms. Never no better bang for the buck to sleep inside what you aim to see the most of.
