Amazing inexpensive camping especially if you have a senior park pass at Grand Canyon National Park. Spacious and well spread out. Clean bathroom. So close to shuttle and camp store. Loved it!

Best campsite weve ever stayed at. Great location in proximity to amazing views of the Grand Canyon. The village is set up with everything needed to camp. The showers were hot, bathrooms clean, easy to dispose of trash, list goes on.

Lovely campground. I stayed in Aspen loop #59 I feel the whole aspen loop is awesome. Especially if you want to be close to the showers. The Aspen loop is within walking distance to the grocery store and bus stops etc as well. A mile or less. The shower hours change in off season. After 10/15 last shower is at 5:45 pm FYI! I didn't think the showers were really clean, but what do you expect camping?! Always bring shower sandals for sanitary purposes. I came to complete R2R2R but rolled my ankle on south Kaibab trail only 4+ miles in so I had to call it a day! I'll be back, and I'll be taking this camping spot. Yavapai lodge is also close and walking distance if you want to have a restaurant for any meals. Decently priced too. Good food. Thank you Mather campground for an awesome experience .

We lucked out that we went to the showers at the correct time. No one told us that only one part was operational and men and woman had to alternate hours. Everything else was great though.

Very nice campground overall. Check in process is great. Sites are far enough apart. Facilities are good, but could use more drinking water faucets. The main complaint is that the hand dryers sound like a jet taking off. It is very annoying when the sunrisers get up and wash their hands and wake up everyone in the area.

Not too many folks mid week! Felt safe and the spots are pretty big.

We had an absolute blast staying at the Podunk Guard Station. Being bundled with some hot chocolate looking at a pitch black night sky is magical and an amazing way to recharge.

A couple things we learned/would be helpful to future visitors:

1) Be ready to add some time to visits if you are going to Bryce or Zion. As the crow flies the guard station is very close to Bryce and looks very close on a map, but it is a solid hour from the guard station to Bryce, so be ready for a good amount of driving.

2) Seclusion is one of the things we liked most about the guard station. That does also mean you need to come well stocked with food, water and firewood (fire restrictions no withstanding). We visited late November and night temperatures dropped to the high teens so it was great that we could burn fire in the wood stove, but it still got very cold when the logs burned out during the night. We went through 8 logs over two nights. The water also wasn't on due to the possibility of freezing pipes, so make sure you have enough to bring in. We were able to refill at Bryce Canyon.

3) Critters - We brought food and a way to secure the food at night, but thought the bananas on the counter wouldn't be a temptation. A mouse in the night proved us wrong. Just be aware and bring something to clean up and store food for the evening.

Clean & spacious campsite. I had full cell service (AT&T) at the campground. Bathrooms were very clean. It was only a few minutes walk to the shuttle. I will definitely be back to the Mather Campground!
