Site 56 was a nice site. The drive was a little sloped but we could level our tent trailer out.

My camp site (Aspen Loop #56) was very nice and clean. It was closer to the bathroom than I thought which was mostly fine. The bathroom was clean. The camp sites weren't too close together. My only complaints would be that the fire pit ring was not level and was kind of just sitting on the ground and when we'd douse our fire for the night we ended up with a puddle under and around the table/bench. It wasn't terrible for 2 adults, but I imagine it could be for campers with kids. The other problem was with the bathroom being so close we could hear the hand dryer every time someone used it. This site does have a little bit of a slope to it, but we found a decently flat spot for our large (6 person) tent. We just had to angle our beds the right way so we didn't roll off. Overall it was a great stay. We even had a group of deer wander through the first morning.

The restrooms near the end of aspen loop were immaculate, at least the womens was! It was warm in there and if you let the hand dryer run its course the air comes out warm too!

Although a large campground, we found it to be mostly quiet. Spaces are generous, with plenty of trees for shade. The concrete picnic tables, roads, and restroom facilities were well maintained. A short walk to the shuttle bus stop allows easy access to most rim trail sites. Restroom facilities are a bit limited.

Our only complaint is the amount of smoke from campfires. Each spot has a fire ring. It appeared many campers do not know how to properly start a fire, any the wood was mostly evergreen. Many leave smoldering smoky fires going for hours…

Mather is a great campground! Within walking distance to the rim, and there is also a shuttle stop even closer if you prefer that. Showers and laundry are close as well. The spots are decently spread out, so you aren't on top of each other. Overall, a great campground!
