Well maintained sites, with a good mix of sun and shade. Be sure to read and follow the camp rules - especially around food (secure it!), firewood (buy and burn local!), and fire management (put it out when you're not there!). Bathrooms and showers are clean and warm. Change machine for the laundry / showers was 50% - one working, one not. $2.50 for 5 mins of water - don't turn off the water or it thinks you're done.

RVs should not be allowed to use the tent non-generator area (pine loop) the one night I was there the RV that was parked next to my campsite were running their generator, so irritating!

It was a beautiful and centrally located campground. Very peaceful. Super close to amenities such as showers, general store and hikes.

Someone recommended Pine loop to me and I'm so glad I listened. No generator noise, just pure outdoor bliss. It helped that no one was there because we camped in a blizzard. I had brought all of my equipment to hammock camp and set it all up and we ended up sleeping in the car. Gotta love spring in the Grand Canyon!

Very nice campground, clean bathrooms and most sites have a good balance between privacy and easy access to your car/truck. Had a visit from a group of elk that walked through! Park rangers warn campers about ravens - they are no joke, extremely smart and observant birds. Put everything away that they might get into, just as instructed by rangers. We saw several sites where campers didnt follow the rules and resulted in quite a mess. They even poked a hole in our 4-gal water jug! So put it all in your car/tent before heading out. All in all, great experience, will definitely be back. Love being so close to the village, south rim hiking and rim trails, but far enough for some peace and quiet and camping experience.

We loved the campground because it was beautiful, quiet, and close to lots of things. The bathrooms were nice and the facilities were good. Our water spigot was broken but that might have been due to the cold.

Mather Campground is a good campground, well kept facilities. We were there for three nights/four days and I highly recommend it. I was nervous about camping in early June in Arizona, but you're in the higher elevation and it only hit the mid 80's and then low 50's at night, which was perfect. The South Rim trail is great, I recommend walking/biking it starting around 7-8am, before it gets crowded. The walk to Hermits Rest is great, hardly anyone there, you hit some moderate inclines but it's worth seeing the canyon from a different angle. The sunsets are awesome, we did a different spot each night. Cell phone is super spotty at the campground but you can pick up a few bars along the South Rim. Never woke up earlier enough for a sunrise, but I know those are spectacular also.
