6 of us camped at the Mather CG before our 4-day backcountry trip down to Hermit, Tonto and the Bright Angle trail in early March. We rode in 2 4Runners and the parking pad was a bit too small for 2 medium size SUV, but we managed it.Weather was agreeable when we arrived the CG and we got two bundles of firewood and it was warm for the night. However, when we wake up the next morning, all tents were bury under 2+ inches of snow! We were able to get ready and get to the Hermit trailhead no issue. Saw a car had hard time to drive up the sloppy camp road.We like the campground and wish to stay more nights for even completed experience in the future.

Loved staying at Mather during our visit. We stayed at site 18 which was absolutely perfect for us. Close to the greenway to walk our dogs (and close to bus stops if you need them). Campground and bathrooms were clean. Dont know what else to say. Youre sleeping under the stars at the Grand Canyon! Would stay again.

Overall a great visit. We had some trouble finding where the drinking water was as the one nearest to us was closed.

The campground in November was okay. We were mostly there to go below the rim and camp in the Canyon. What was most disappointing was the lack of basic facilities- warm water in the washrooms, even the air dryer was cold air. Showers are for pay- all the soap dispensers were empty. $2.50 for 5 minutes of a warm shower, though well worth it after a 3 day hike into the Canyon was just pricy. I would expect more from a National Park. The prices for firewood seemed high- $9 for a few logs, I would have needed 3 piles for an evening to stay warm. Though I loved my experience hiking the Canyon and experiencing the backcountry sites, Mather Campground was merely a necessary stay to get us from A-B. I wouldn't camp there otherwise.

The warning that bears had been seen should have been send as an email to all reservations with the option to cancel for free

Easy to book, check in was quick and smooth, as well as no hassle check out. Site is clean, each pitch well distanced with easy access to restrooms. Shuttle service to the grand canyon is amazing, and runs from sun rise until sunset so great opportunities to sit at the rim and watch. Highly recommend sunrise over sunset as the each canyon peak lights up and is breathtaking, although sunset is good itโ€™s not as visual.

The campground was BEAUTIFUL, spread out very nicely so that you have some separation and privacy from the people in the site next to you. The way the road winds around and campsites are arranged really minimizes the sound from your neighbors and cara passing by. Bathrooms were also very clean a d easily accessible. We will definitely be back again.

Nice clean sites and facilities. Space between camp sites. Nice proximity to store and visitor center on foot

The campsites were well spaced out. I didn't feel crowded by other campers at all. The area was beautiful! It was also peaceful and quiet, even before quiet hours started.
