Very nice time at Mather. My only discrepancy was the shower hours and coin operated system, sometimes the shower didnt work and took my quarters anyway.

I have camped at Mather Campground many times. This stay was mid-December for two nights. The campground is clean and well-maintained and situated within a lovely pinon-juniper woodland. There is plenty of vegetative screening between the nicely-spaced sites. Restrooms are clean and the flush toilets and water was on, in spite of the pipeline break and water restrictions. The campground is a 15 minute walk from the rim or a five minute walk from the shuttle. Ranger Mark provided helpful information. Remember to keep trash and any food out of sight to help the wildlife stay wild.

Love this place. Clean campground, great amenities and mostly private sites. Second trip here within the last year. Will definitely come back.

A couple weeks before Thanksgiving weekend, I logged onto recreation.gov to see if there were any car camping spots open at Mather Campground in Grand Canyon National Park. There were, but there weren't any consecutive days for camping available. So I booked a different campsite for each night. When I arrived at Camp Mather to check in, the ranger noticed that I'd be bouncing around each night and offered to find me 1 consecutive camping spot for the time I was there. I was shocked that he offered, and on top of that I was even more shocked when he found one during the busy Thanksgiving week/end! So thank you ranger, you made my stay a happy one. My campsite was good. It came with a parking spot for my car, a picnic table, and fire pit. There is no privacy though. You can see and hear other campers in the loop. What was cool though was that a flock of deer walked right through my campsite in the morning. Right next to my car! A whole family of like 8 dear (Male, female, and babies). That was very cool. You can also see the Milky Way in the sky at night. The bathrooms were clean, big, and did not smell. They came with flush toilets, one touch sinks, and a trashcan. Overall had a good experience.

Clean, well managed, great bathrooms (with power and running water), and good location, honestly can't ask for more for your camping experience.

Very nice campground with clean bathrooms. Visiting in early November is great - campground was less than half full. The only drawback was that we could construction noise from the new hotel all night.
