When was it was unable to stay because of a medical emergency and unable to contact Mather Campground. No phone number or helpline for the campground.

We recently went camping for the first time at Mather Campground, and it was a wonderful experience. We stayed for six nights and didn't have any problems. The campsites were clean and well-spaced, and there were restrooms and drinking water nearby. The campground also had showers and laundry facilities near the entrance. But the best part was being in the Grand Canyon! First rate experience, highly recommended.

You will definitely need the campsite map, I got lost at first. Make sure you have reservation because you ain't getting in without one. Please don't leave your utensils in the public sink located right outside of the restroom, because I will be moving your stuff to the side to brush my teeth and TRY not to spit on your utensils. If you are camping in a RV plz be decent enough not to leave it on after quiet hours.Do not leave your food outside that includes package food, the animals WILL chew through the bags to get your food. My packaged food got chewed through, nuts, candies.Enjoy the view of Mather Point!

We loved camping here. There was so much to do, we never had to leave the park! There is a store and a few restaurants inside the park as well.

It was a really great experience. It gets pretty cold at night in April/May so be sure to bring warm bedding/ sleeping bags. I recommend walking/ hiking the Rim and driving to the Desert View if you get a chance. If you want to go down the Grand Canyon the donkey rides need to be booked in advance. Or you could just hike down but be sure you are ready for the trek with the proper provisions. We didn't go all the way down, just walked a couple minutes. Even going partially is fun.

Nice, quiet spot. A bit dusty during windy times, but otherwise was a great campground!
