Nice campsite! Close to water, close enough to the toilets without smelling them and no headlights shine into the tent sites when cars pass by in the dark.

The site was great and we enjoyed the sense of privacy that the trees provided. The campground is very convenient in terms of location and it is so wonderful to have access to a shuttle to get around (and in case you don't want to drive after a couple of drinks at the Tavern.) We were tent camping so the distance to the bathroom was less than ideal, but we made it work. Recommendations for other campers include: checking out the evening programs and take advantage of the dark sky for stargazing, using the shuttle and supporting the First Nations vendors in the park.

Our site #101 is very spacious and flat, more than enough to set up three 2p tents. Our neighbors were very quiet and respectful. The restroom was clean and well maintained, the only problem was the toilet seats were too high, I am 5’7” but my feet were 6 inches above the ground when I sat down on the toilet...

First time visiting the Grand Canyon and it exceeded any expectation I thought I ever had. Unfortunately because of COVID my original 3 day reservation was cancelled last year and when allowed to rebook this year I was only able to reserve one day. I took it anyway and drove in from LA. Short stay at Camp Matherground but an easy one. Easy to find on both google maps and park maps. Very clean campground with fire pits ready to use. Bring your own firewood or coal. Firewood at the park’s general store is about $10 for a 6 piece log bundle. The weekend of April 10 had beautiful sunny weather. 3-6 a.m. was under 40 degrees but other than that sunny and clear skies. There were signs throughout the park of suggested hike routes/activities to do for the amount of time you have. I always expected I’d love this place and I wasn’t disappointed. Will be coming back during the summer if I can reserve more days. Thanks to everyone working to keep the park in tip top shape!

Great campground. There’s lots of sites but spaced widely enough and enough flora between for privacy. Bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. And elk roaming the campground daily was a cool bonus.

We had a great experience camping even if it did snow during our time in the campground. I would also note that showers were closed at this time if that is important to travelers.
