Mather is a beautiful campground with plenty of room and clean restrooms. The shuttle bus system is very convenient to use and makes it easy to get to all the great viewing areas. Speaking of views, the views from the rim were amazing. Due to a recent injury we were not able to hike into the canyon, but we enjoyed hiking the entire length of the rim trail and seeing everything along the way. Lots of interesting exhibits as well as views.

Lot of space, but not a lot of shade.

Overall the area was great. Nice to have the dishwashing sink. At our particular site we couldn't find a fully flat surface for the tent so sleeping tilted wasn't ideal.

Our site was very roomy, clean, with shade and sun. The asphalt pad was not real level, but we had blocks to correct for that. The campground was very quiet during the week and most of the weekend, but pretty noisy Friday night when the weekenders showed up. On Monday morning, elk came to eat and sleep at our site. The bathrooms needed more frequent attention, but were never intolerable. Really, we couldn’t ask for a more pleasant place to park for a week.

The campground is beautiful, quiet and conveniently located near the South Rim Village. The folks that checked me in were very friendly and informative. My campsites were nice and level and they were the perfect size for my camper van. I’m looking forward to staying there again and I highly recommend it.

The campgrounds are nice and spacious. Lots of trees for our hammock. Our only call out is the shower hours. It’s open from 6am-1pm. No night showers. People go hiking and after the campfire smoke we want to shower before going to bed. They need to open up the showers to at least 9pm or 10pm. My suggested shower hours are below.
Open: 6am-1pm
Close: 1pm-4pm
Open: 5pm-10pm

The campground was great! Nice shady spots and plenty of space. The only thing we would have changed was having shower availability in the evening.
