Could not have asked for a better visit. Campground was perfect. The buses that take you to all the points of interest are amazing. We had such a wonderful experience seeing all the beauty the Grand Canyon has to offer.

We got the last of only 5 sites that fit an 30ft RV. Unfortunately, door of RV did not open to the site of table and fire pit (oneway pull-through).Restroom was heated, but very old and should be renovated.There is only one dumping station, means waiting times could be a bit longer. Portable water filling station was on the other side, so that we could not dump and fill up water at the same spot but would have had to turn around the RV first.

We had an excellent time, the campground was clean, the staff was helpful, the buses were easy to access and our site was big enough. I wish we could have run our generator a bit longer, the time frame is concise.

The camping spots are nice and have enough space even for an RV.The toilets were not clean and we know it is an camp site, but really dirty.

I have spent many nights at Mather as this such a remarkable place. My experience likely fall into the "beggars can't be choosers" category, but it does make me question RV policies. Was fortunate enough to find a cancelation and so could spend two nights camping at the South Rim over a busy holiday weekend. The downside was the RV next door. While the RV did stick (almost to the minute) the letter of the generator law - the RV did make the experience for tent dwellers very unpleasant. The very loud generator ran from 6 AM - 9 AM - no sleeping in or enjoying a quiet breakfast. And again from 6 PM - 8 PM. The second night we simply planned to have dinner before 6 and go and watch the sunset and not come back until 8 PM. This strategy provided some peace, but it would have been nice to enjoy a quiet evening at camp.
Might it be possible to create a tent only zone or to simply not permit generators? They seem the anthesis of what camping in a national park represents. My husband has vowed never to return to Mather. I will likely be return, but will certainly be more selective in site choice.
Bottom line - take a good look at the map if you are in a tent and try to avoid those large enough to accommodate RVs.

Campsites are spaced well, clean and quiet. The restroom was also clean. Rangers were helpful and very personable. Overall our stay was very good.
