We love Mather! The campsites are quite spacious compared to others weve been at. And its never been too noisy. The bathrooms are also very well maintained. Mather is walking distance to the General Store and Yavapai Lodge, which is a big bonus.

Amazing! My wife and I had a wonderful time. Shower water was nice and hot, though I definitely recommend bringing footwear for the shower.

It was better than a 5 hotel. Elks were there so we had to wait to set up our tents. We worried about the close proximity and privacy issues but our neighbor campers were quiet and respectful. The site was clean and leveled. We had the most wonderful time.

Mather Campground was the best campground we were at in the two week trip we had planned. The camp areas were spacious, most had shade, and allowed for very close encounters with wildlife. Elk and mule deer walked through our loop multiple times a day. I would caution people about the ravens. We saw several camps destroyed by the ravens when people did not put up their food or shiny things (aluminum foil). We never had any issues because we picked up the camp before we left. I would strongly recommend looking at the posted bus schedules, not just going off of the maps on the internet. We had a very interesting morning trying to catch a bus which lead to about a three hour delay in our morning plans. But you want to get moving early, not only to beat the heat but also the crowds. If you are camping, get out early do your sight seeing and get back to camp around noon. You will miss the large majority of the tour busses and crowds. We had four full days to look around and it was prefect. I don't know if you could really see everything in a day. Take your time and the shuttles. Our two favorite buss drivers were Tommy A. and Anne, they were fantastic and shared lots of information.

We saw lots of elk on our campsite which was really a highlight! The campgrounds bathroom was heated and comfortable to use. Our area even though there were people camping beside us, was very quiet and serene. The night sky was lit up with stars! A telescope was made available in the market parking lot which we found to be a nice touch.

We arrived 2 days after a major snowstorm. Our camping area was deep in snow but the parking was well plowed and walk ways to the bathroom was shoveled. This turned out to be a great time to visit because there were no crowds.

Cold and snow covering entire campground. Still functioned well for our stay overnight prior to hiking to bottom of canyon.

I had a different person register me for a first-come first-serve site every morning, and with one exception (who tried to send me off out of the park to a commercial campground) all were extremely helpful and courteous and friendly. Great staff!

We came without a reservation, however thankfully were able to camp at the 'first come first served' camp sites. Very nice, professional camp administrators. The price was very very reasonable. This is a very busy park! A cow Elk came to visit our spot and laid down in the shade for a while, then moved on.

Facilities were well-kept. Nice sites in Ponderosa Pine forest. Some road noise until fairly late at night and trash truck was making rounds out on the main park road quite early (5 a.m. or so).

We loved having the Mule Deer & Elk visit our camp site! There is a walking trail/path for 2 miles and you are at the Bright Angel Trail Head, but be advised that at this time of year there is lots of ice in the canyon shaded areas. Rangers were friendly and easily found if needed. Also the free shuttle system is less than 0.25 mile from the site!

We camped at D21 which butted up against beautiful canyon wall. Quiet campground close to all the action. Even though there were no showers in campground, it was only a 5 minute walk to showers at outfitters in Springdale.

Nicely spaced campsites in the forest, no generators on Pine Loop, quiet.

Loved this campground! Its very peaceful and quiet. Its also very convenient for visiting the national park and picking up items from the general store. It was unfortunate to not know that the showers closed at 12:45 pm as we had day hiking plans the days we were there. Otherwise, an excellent experience!
