We had a great time at Mather Campground. The camp bathrooms were clean and have real flush toilets, you have access to hot showers and a laundry facility, and its easy to get on the shuttle bus. We had dinner at El Tovar, hiked down to Phantom Ranch for some lemonade, got engaged!, had an elk walk right through our campsite. Another favorite memory is sipping hot coffee in the first morning sunbeams while listening to the ravens squawk. It was an amazing trip. We will definitely be back.

Parc trs agrable et fonctionnel. Mme s'il y a beaucoup d'emplacements les emplacements ne sont pas trop rapprochs. Espace sanitaire bien tenu.Un grand merci aux rangers pour la qualit de leur accueil.

Its a nice campground, laundry facility was good, campsites are close together but have flat parking and tables in a beautiful forest. One guy ran his generator all day and night in the non-generator Pine loop, it would be nice if that rule was enforced.

Very nice Campground in walking distance to the village and the Bright Angel Trailhead (about 25 minutes). Clean campside with some shade and even and sandy surface. Restrooms clean and close by but not to close. Very quite at night so a good nights sleep is assured.

Mather Campground is huge! Lots of people in the summer means not-so-clean restrooms, people feeding the wildlife, noise, people walking through your campsite, etc. While this site was great, there was never a ranger coming around. We spent every afternoon and evening at our site and never saw a ranger or host. It would have been nice to have someone with authority come around during quiet hours to make sure the campground was quiet. We also experienced very kind camp neighbors, a beautiful sunrise at Mather Point, and all the amenities like a camp store nearby, showers, and flush toilets. I would camp at Mather again but maybe in the off season to avoid the crowds.

Really nice campsite! There is a large tree log/stump that we used as an additional prepping and eating surface. There are some trees to provide shade throughout the day. The fire pit has a low ring and the grill is in good condition.I highly recommend going to Mather Point for sunrise. Check the night before for time of sunrise and park in Lots 1-4 at least 35 minutes before sunrise to see the changing colors of the Grand Canyon.

Easy to locate the campground and site number. We arrived after check in time and had no problem entering and accessing our site.

Loved the fact that we had almost the entire campground to ourselves.

We got to the campsite after hours around 6pm and the office was already closed. I wasn’t able to officially check-in, but went to my assigned campsite. The campsite was sufficient for our SUV which had trees for shading, a fire ring and a bench. It was far enough away from the other campers for privacy and an easy walk to the bathroom. I was disappointed the women’s bathroom ran out of soap. Mather Campground is close enough to the park’s grocery store and Yavapai Lodge’s dining hall for meals.

We had a great time at Mather. Our site was relatively clean. Although it could have used a raking to clean up all the cigarette butts. It was quiet and peaceful once the loud music man left.

My experience at Mather Campground was fantastic! After being denied backcountry permits, this was my second choice and I did not regret it.

Check-in was a breeze and the staff was so friendly and helpful! Our site was in the Pine Loop (302). The sites were all very spacious and had trees. I did not feel like we were on top of the site next door. Each site was clean with a fire ring and picnic table.

The restrooms were close and convenient, but far enough away to have a quiet site. The bathrooms were also very clean and well maintained.

The easy access to Market Plaza was also a plus. Plentiful firewood and supplies in case you forgot something, and a well stocked grocery store. The shuttles were also right there to take you to trailheads.

Stayed for four days and hiked the Rim Trail, South Kaibab, and Bright Angel. All were fantastic but the highlight was a short hike out to Shoshone Point for sunset-No crowds and spectacular views! We hiked back in the dark by headlamp and it was amazing.

Couldn’t be happier with our trip and the experience at Mather! I will definitely be back!

Great campground, though a little crowded. Bathrooms were extremely clean! Wish the camping services building with the showers was open later than 1pm.

The campground is beautiful and you feel like your miles away from anywhere. The spots are spread out. The restrooms were very clean and the staff was very helpful.

Campsites were wide and open - excellent for tent camping. We were sad about all of the trash left around on the ground. We've camped at several national parks and this had the most trash on the ground ... maybe due to birds attacking camper trash bags or campers not cleaning up after themselves but my Girl Scouts were excited to clean up and leave no trace.

Overall, the campground was a great experience! We stayed at the Pine Loop and despite full capacity, it still seemed very quiet and remote. Tons of space between our campsite and other campers. Drinking water and bathrooms were easy to find and rangers were friendly and helpful. We had made the little over a mile hike to Grand Canyon Village with no issues. However, if you wake up early enough, you'll probably find a parking spot at the village with ease. My only "complaint", is that the bath house is a bit aways away from the site, so you'll need to drive down or make that walk with a headlamp in the cold at night.

Nice campground, not spectacular but very functional, walkable to the rim. Lots of deer and elk.
