Had to wait in line at 0800 to secure a ff spot, but it was worth it. Nice spot, lots of Elk passing by in the late afternoon or early morning.

The general store is larger than you think and whatever you forgot or find out you'll need is likely there. Bearizona is about 2 hours away and I can't recommend it enough. Also within the park make sure you make time for stargazing. The night sky there is stunning especially if you're from a larger city. Lastly, if you are a minority and concerned about being in such a remote location- don't be. Practice the same common sense you would typically with strangers and wildlife but other campers, visitors, and Park employees are shockingly kind and helpful.

Great National Park campground. Perfect location, really well maintained, bathrooms are very clean and campsites in good shape. Camp office and hosts are very available and helpful. The showers and laundromat are a great feature of this campground. Well located for a nice walk to the south rim, market, and visitor center. Really made our time in the Grand Canyon special.

Campground is easy to navigate and the individual sites are a reasonable distance apart. A shuttle stop at the entrance makes it easy to get around the Village without a vehicle. Parking in the Village is ample, yet parking spaces are completely full before mid-day, making the shuttle system a necessity. Not a campground responsibility, but more buses are needed as the ones I rode were standing room only.

Loved the campground. Very nice. Quiet. We went in March. The camp services showers were filthy. Both men and womens with garbage and hair in the stalls.

This was a fine spot, but the asphalt for our site was in pretty bad shape and a little hard to get our small RV in a good spot without being partially off the asphalt and onto the dirt. we would camp here again but in a different site. Beyond the campground I am VERY grateful for the paved accessible path along the south rim, and especially grateful for handicapped RV parking. These little things allowed me to have a nice short stroll on the path to see the Grand Canyon.

What’s not to love about the Grand Canyon!? Catch the sunrise of you can. We had perfect weather and in September weekdays it wasn’t crowded. Probably also because of Covid, since many services were closed or limited. But it’s beautiful nonetheless.
I chose a site that was designated “Rv nonelectric”, but next time I’ll try for “standard nonelectric” because , I deduced what they don’t tell you—that “RV” seems to indicate that there’s a level parking pad, but not anything level for tents, nor much level area for sitting around outside the Rv—at least not at site 262. Still it was wonderful to be there and the spots are well spaced for shade and privacy.
Also note that Trailer Village is the only area with hookups and there you’ll be packed in side-to-side.

Pictures can’t do this National Park justice, awesome isn’t an amazing enough description! The Mather Campground is very clean, other sites are a little too close and there is little privacy, but we went at a good time and didn’t need to worry!

We loved our time at Mather! We used a tent site as well as a camper pull through site. We wished the pull through was a bit more even and a bit wider, but it worked out alright. The bathrooms were super clean and placed conveniently. It was neat to share our campground with elk and ground squirrels.

All was good except the dump station backed up when dumping our tanks. Also need more than one working dump station with flushing water available on the driver's side.

Clean, beautiful, peaceful campground
In addition to all the usual amazing hikes along the canyon rim, we enjoyed hiking a bit of the Arizona Trail and an excursion to the desert watchtower
