This is a great campground! It was disappointing that there were no showers or laundry when we visited, but for $18 and this kind of location, it really can't be beat. Bathrooms were nicely kept and flush toilets.

Great campsite with plenty of space and shade. Also, it was just a short walk to the bathroom & water.

Clean campground. Nearby restroom with flush toilets. Site was almost level and and plenty large enough for our truck and 15 ft trailer.

Mather campground is perfect if you're tenting or your rig is self-contained. You are permitted to run a generator for a select 2 hours morning and 2 hours late afternoon. Camp fire permitted in supplied fire rings. Many drive-through sites. Easy walking distance to the south rim trail and central Market conveniences. Free shuttle service at the base of the hill. Free RV dump and potable water fill co-located in campground services. Rate was $18 per day or 50% off if you possess lifetime senior pass. Check into the latter if you're 62 or older. Park staff were outstanding -- polite and knowledgable. We definitely plan to go back.

We were so excited to get into the Grand Canyon without a reservation. The campground was almost empty. A lot of room, great hiking and a lot of trails. The shuttle buses make it easy to get around to see the different sights and the rim of the Grand Canyon and Hermit's Roost. All the camp rangers are friendly and knowledgeable.

Even though the campground was full, it was very quiet. Well maintained.
