At the time of our visit, every park ranger we spoke with was unsure of their future with the NPS. Its only a matter of time before staff reductions and low morale will impact this campground. Everyone who visits the Grand Canyon, or stays in the Mather Campground must protest and vote against the current federal budget policies.

This is a very large and very popular campground. The spaces were very close together so you could hear and see everything your neighbors were doing. That would have been okay except we had some neighbors who believed it truly was "all about them." Thankfully, the children became so obnoxious, insisting that they wanted to go home, that the parents gave in, packed up and left. After that our opinion of the campground improved greatly. Our other concern was that even though we had a confirmed, paid for reservation when we got to our site it had a sign saying it was available. Thankfully no one had camped in our space so it turned out fine. We never had any contact with any campground employee so I'm not sure how closely they monitor the campground. That said, the campground was very clean. The restrooms had flush toilets and they even had electric outlets so you could plug in a hairdryer or other appliance. We enjoyed our space. It was roomy, flat, and far enough away from the main road so we weren't bothered by traffic noise. Just watch out for the boulder by the picnic table. I tripped over it in the dark (this is a dark skies campground) and dislocated my finger.

Nicely vegetated campsites with convenient access to bathrooms, water, and trash. Easy access to shuttles, trails, and the general store.

Amazing time at the Grand Canyon and Mather Campground. Everything was perfect. Our spot was one of the most isolated of the loop!

Sites were spacious. I didn't feel like we were really close to anyone else. Bathrooms were clean and stocked. Sinks had soap.

Great campground within Grand Canyon National Park. We even had some Elk come through our site for a visit. The campground was clean, quiet and close to everything you need for a great experience at GCNP. Thank you!

The campground was well kept and quiet for the most part! The bathrooms were clean. We enjoyed the hiking and biking trails nearby and close proximity to a shuttle bus.

The site itself is beautiful! The trees are lovely and the ground very nice for a tent.
However, when I made the reservations I either didn't see that the showers are closed or it wasn't posted. I think it was the latter. No showers when you expect to have them isn't good.
When we arrived in the afternoon there was NO SOAP in either the women's or men's restrooms. Not until the next morning did someone come to renew it. Had to remember to bring our own each time we visited.
This doesn't make sense: to not have the showers open b/c of covid, and to not have soap in the restrooms!?
Overall, not a great impression.

This was my first time visiting the Grand Canyon and it was amazing beyond belief. A very spectacular scene for sure. The park is wonderful, well planned, and very well maintained. The central "Blue" shuttle was not operating, but the others were and the sightseeing opportunities were fantastic. Mather campground is very nice, clean, maintained, and there are lots of trees. Overall it was a great experience that will be remembered forever.

Great campground. Well maintained. There’s a market in walking distance. Elk everywhere. Would camp there again. Internet is not great. One bar of LTE for at&t and Verizon.
