Site 294 was a nice, quiet & quaint campsite. Restrooms were just an easy short walk away. Would recommend staying here!

We loved our stay at Mather campground! Prime location near the overlook, village, and walking paths. The village market had everything you might have needed at reasonable prices. PLUS free water refill stations. The campground bathrooms where super clean. It was quiet with beautiful stargazing. We were even lucky enough to hear the elk in the middle of the night. It was magical. Will be back!

Large sites, some half buried rocks and half buried metal poles and large metal stakes in the middle of our site. Took us a hour to clean up all the trash from previous campers. Clean bathrooms and shower areas. Laundry had multiple out of order washing machines. Close proximity to grocery store.

At the time of our visit, every park ranger we spoke with was unsure of their future with the NPS. Its only a matter of time before staff reductions and low morale will impact this campground. Everyone who visits the Grand Canyon, or stays in the Mather Campground must protest and vote against the current federal budget policies.

This is a very large and very popular campground. The spaces were very close together so you could hear and see everything your neighbors were doing. That would have been okay except we had some neighbors who believed it truly was "all about them." Thankfully, the children became so obnoxious, insisting that they wanted to go home, that the parents gave in, packed up and left. After that our opinion of the campground improved greatly. Our other concern was that even though we had a confirmed, paid for reservation when we got to our site it had a sign saying it was available. Thankfully no one had camped in our space so it turned out fine. We never had any contact with any campground employee so I'm not sure how closely they monitor the campground. That said, the campground was very clean. The restrooms had flush toilets and they even had electric outlets so you could plug in a hairdryer or other appliance. We enjoyed our space. It was roomy, flat, and far enough away from the main road so we weren't bothered by traffic noise. Just watch out for the boulder by the picnic table. I tripped over it in the dark (this is a dark skies campground) and dislocated my finger.

Amazing time at the Grand Canyon and Mather Campground. Everything was perfect. Our spot was one of the most isolated of the loop!

Thanks for consolidating sites and plowing the drives and clearing areas of snow so that we could get a good nights rest before our Grand Canyon experience.

The campground was great, there are a good number of trees providing privacy between even the closest campsites. Highly recommend!

Wow, what a great place to camp - even in early December. Weather was cold at night but warm in the daytime. Lots of places to hike and great information at the Visitor Center. The ranger that helped us was so enthusiastic about it. You can tell he loves his job. Thank you!

Generally fine. Paving operations were underway, so we were on first-come, first serve status every day, so we had to re-register every day - a hassle. But there was space available and the registration folks were nice. Too bad they couldn't give us multiple days once we were there.

great setting. was very rainy and seemed our tent site had two areas where water ran through so we had to pick the smallest, but water collected in the tent. Showers were not working at the facility. Was happy with price and setting though. Bathroom was clean.

We only camped one night at Mather Campground but wish we would have planned more. The campsites were spacious and the campground and restrooms were clean. The highlight for us though was seeing the elk walk right through the campsite! We loved it and will definitely stay there again.

Mather Campground is a large one. Site 294 is on the end of a loop which afforded more space and privacy than others. It is actually a short walk through the open woods to the Trailer Village Blue Shuttle Bus Stop and to the greenway which leads to the Visitors Center and Mather Point. The restroom was kept clean. The showers cost $2.50 for 5 minutes and note that at this time every other shower stall is closed to maintain social distancing so you may have to wait during some times of the day.
