One of the nicest, most well laid out, maintained and beautiful campgrounds in the National Park system.

Lovely location in the forest, very peaceful, would gladly come again. No amenities, so beware of temps. below zero in November, when you might want to switch to a campsite with a hookup.

Perfect spot for staying overnight. Close to the Shuttle, that takes you everywhere you need to go. Clean bathrooms, drinking water very close. Good to know: if going to the visitor center, change Shuttles at Market Plaza to get there faster.

I was a little confused because I didn't realize my spot was detailed in the e-mail confirmation. (My first experience with the system). Once that was clear, everything went great!

Site was good, a pull through. We were right next to a bathroom and water spigot which wasnt an issue for the one night we were there. Biggest problem was that at least 40% of the showers were out of order causing lines.

Big campground, but it feels comfy. Also warm showers so thats really nice to have. And lot of wildlife around the campground.

Nice place and very good organized campground. Friendly staff. Only the showers were the dirtiest of our entire trip. This is a small thing and could be changed quickly.

Gentleman at the check in office was very short. He asked if knew i was in a no generator section. I did not know. I asked if there were any generator sites available. He said, "No, you can go to the $80 a night campground. He was very blunt, not friendly, and showed how tired he was of dealing with people who didn't want to be in the no generator section. Not a good introduction to camping in Grand Canyon.

We visited in early March, there was snow and it was extremely quiet, hardly any other campers around us. Quiet, easy to navigate, clean amenities. No showers but restrooms were warm and clean. The dump station had no water (the spigot was broken), so we were unable to fill up. Peaceful campground when we visited but Im sure it get very busy in warmer months and around holidays. Perfect location for visiting the park.

It would have been nice if our camping spot had been cleared of snow before we got there. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We recently had our first experience camping within a National Park and Mather Campground didnt disappoint! Clean bathrooms and water close to most campsites. Plan ahead though, hard to get a spot on short notice.

Biking and hiking was great.

Bathrooms and campgrounds were kept super clean. Campground was nice, sites a bit too close together for my liking and the asphalt pull-throughs are falling apart in the loop we were in (Pine loop).

Well kept. We had a good stay for one night. Awesome sky at night filled with stars.

Mather Campground was perfect for us to explore the South Rim of Grand Canyon! We had bikes with, so it was close to a bike route and was literally along the rim. View after view. We also took the bikes on the bike paths to the Village and back. From Mather it was an easy walk to the shuttle that took you along the entire length of the rim and many view hikes. I suggest getting on the red route and enjoying the hikes between some of the stops as well as the stops themselves. The campground was SO quiet during the day as people were out and about. Otherwise, it was also quite quiet and mellow. Mule deer walked casually through often. Sites were well spaced. Some had some funky broken up tar drives, but still manageable. As always, suggest you earth view a map and try your best for the site you like. Trash AND recycling (awesome!), toilet houses. Showers were a bit of a walk to the welcome center. I was in a small RV (26). Youll have a great time. Great location for the camp to enjoy Grand Canyon (btw - note the Grand Canyon, just Grand Canyon!). :)

Ranger at check-in was awesome with info on weather, advice re: wood for campfires, etc. Location of campground is perfect for exploring! Can’t believe the $9 price! We were close to bathrooms, trash & recycling, water, and the shuttle. Elk were wandering around. Highly recommend early November!

We were camping in a RV and it was so wonderful to be among the trees and not in a RV resorts. The bathrooms were well maintained.
We walked the Rim Trail. We also rode our bikes from the Visitor Center to the Hermits Rest Road Transfer stop. We locked our bikes and walked to the first bus stop called Trailview Overlook on Hermit Road instead of taking the bus. I would totally recommend this because it gives you a fantastic view of the Bright Angel Trail and the South Rim hotels, etc. We saw a Condor at the Trailview Overlook stop!! We then took the bus to Hermits Rest for their Hot Chocolate.
We drove to The Desert View Watchtower (even though it was closed) on the Desert View Drive. Many stops along the way to view the Canyon.
