After a long day of hiking we went to showers at 7:30 pm to find they closed at 6:00 pm. And they dont open till 7:00 am which was no help as we had to leave at 6:00 am. Not good.

We arrived in an afternoon snowstorm. The front gate staff were helpful and kind. Our campsite was clean and tidy, but the one next to ours had stuff strewn all over. Sandals, plastic bags, roasting skewers, a mirror. It took us a while to get it all cleaned up. The park rangers and campground hosts were all very helpful.
Great campground, just as I remember it from 25+ yrs ago. I picked my own spot, but I should have picked one a little farther away from a restroom since everybody using it had to walk by my campsite. Well organized and a easy check in. It had a fire ring, picnic table and trash close by as well. It was fairly clean, but I can’t believe the amount of stuff people carelessly leave ( cig butts, bottle caps, napkins). On the other hand, I was able to teach my grandson the “Leave No Trace” principles. I can’t believe I haven’t camped there for so long, but we’ll definitely be back.

We were not notified of the no open fire rule (no fires in the fire pits or bbqs) until we arrived. It made for a scramble to figure out how to cook our meals during three nights of camping. It would have been nice to receive an email. Otherwise a wonderful stay at Matther's campground. We highly recommend it.

The showers were closed so we were unfortunately stinky for the days we were there, but otherwise it was a very nice campsite. There is plenty of room to pitch a tent, it's not far from the hikes along the rim and into the canyon, and the bathrooms were never too busy. Cold water only in bathrooms, but that was fine. Also we got to see the wild horses wander through our campsite one of the mornings and that was the coolest thing!

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
