Amazing spot-- deeply loved camping here! Only critique is that the showers are far-away and have a cost associated with it, hence not giving 5 full stars. Still absolutely fantastic spot!

I had a great experience at mather campground. The space I had was nice. I would recommend Mather to all my friends and family. It was my first time ever camping and all you need is right at your hands. Also, the wildlife was all around my space. I was a bit nervous because of the male elk but if you like that kinda thing then great!

Good spot, on the outskirts, very quiet in the off-season. Beware the ravens, they're smart, they know the area and will pick at every last item you have sitting out. Learned the hard way day 1 watching neighboring campground get poked and pecked at. Open spot, bit of noise from the highway, only major complaint would be the garbage trucks far away were very audible very early in the morning on the weekday and the weekend even...

This was a wonderful campground and our site was awesome. We were at site 234. We were spaced out nicely from others. The bathrooms were clean and hosts were very friendly and helpful. The view of the Milky Way at night was amazing and more than I could have hoped for. We were able to hike from our site to the rim of the canyon and there were a lot of trails to take to hike the canyon. It was wonderful. We were there in mid may, so the crowds weren't as bad as they probably are in the summer time after school is out. The bugs weren't bad either. The second day there was quite windy and dusty. Overall, great experience. Check in and check out process was easy as well.

Nicely wooded campground within easy walking distance to the rim trail. The site was clean and fairly quiet, bathrooms were also clean. Overall great experience.

I was fortunate to camp there on the 2nd day it was open (March, 2021). Everything and everyone was season fresh. Very Good Park Staff, including some newbies who were manning the check in registration desk. They were great. Due to the early season there were many empty campsites around me. About 4:30 in the afternoon, a lone Bull Elk came sauntering through the camp about 25 yards from my site. He did not care about me as he was busy scrounging. He stayed in view about 15 minutes before he went to wherever Elks go. I will say that the cost for all of this privacy and the Elk as my guest was an early season overnight snow - about two inches. But the sun came out and took care of that little surprise by the time coffee was over. Bring some gloves next March. To the point, the Park and the staff were GREAT
