Great camp to be close to South Rim. Shuttle was convenient. Dump station and free portable water was very helpful. Shower facilities were old.

An excellent camping place. Very clean and the site was grauest for our 25 ft RV. The staff was friendly. And if youre looking for an camping site close to Grand Canyon this is the place to be. The shuttle service is nearby so is the main market.

There's a lot of space around and the whole campground is in a forest. The toilets are clean and not far away. Only at night it was scary to walk about in the complete darkness. Make sure to have a flashlight. The shuttle runs from just outside the campground, so it's easy to get around even without moving the own vehicle. From our site it was a bit of a walk to the showers, but at least there were some, so no big deal. I can really recommend the camp ground although it's usually booked out (no wonder why ;-)). Thanks for a great stay!

it is awesome to be in the park, close to the rim, but it isn't THAT close and the site we had, while isolated from most of the campground, was close to the main road into the park from the south. So not very quiet. but it was beutiful and tree covered and the rangers were very helpful. very helpful.

Beautiful campground and well-spaced sites. A great spot to relax! Good Elk-watching in April. We enjoyed the convenient access to the shuttle and the quiet park. We were there 5 nights and wished it were longer. Everything is a "must-see" and the vistas and hikes are dramatic. As retirees, we affirm the warnings to aviod the heat and start early; hike with plenty of water and snacks.Nice to have showers and laundry near the campground.Don't be surprised if ice is difficult to find in the park!

Our experience at Mather Campground was magical. We visited in mid-March, it had snowed in the park a few days earlier, and the campground was beautiful, with areas of fresh white snow everywhere. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by a SNOWMAN right next to our parking spot! The weather was perfect for our stay, the nights were very cold, but the days were merely cool, but with clear blue skies and almost zero wind. It was WONDERFUL to see the park without the usual It is too far to walk from the Mather Campground to the Village or the canyon rim, so we used the free shuttles to get around. The Blue Line stops right by the campground entrance (but that can be quite a long walk from some sites). Then you easily make connections to the other shuttle lines to go east or west along the rim. We especially appreciated the Red Line, that goes west form the village all the way to Hermit's Rest, with many fabulous stops along the way.The downsides to the campground were few. Our site was not level, and our rental RV did not some with leveling blocks, so that posed some problems. Also, the night-time lows went down to the low 20s, and that caused additional problems with the RV heater and etc. As I said, it's a long walk to get to the shuttle bus stop outside the entrance. We highly recommend Mather Campground; it was especially magical in the off-season, where we could appreciate the sound of the breeze in the pine trees, not the noise of a crowded summer campground. ENJOY!
