Happily surprised we could get a last minute camp site. Lovely clean pitch as always. Toilets on site were kept well. The facilities in the shower block could do with updating and maybe additional sinks would help!

Clean and beautiful but not to much vegetation and privacy.

Great location and sites. Plenty of water locations and bathrooms. showers and laundry. Convenient bus stop to see the rest of the park without unhooking. Grand Canyon is a MUST see.

We stayed at this campground before and after an R2R hike. I wish the showers and laundry would have been open later in the day. And both nights Mather campground was filled with smoke from people's campfires. There were too many campfires in a small space making the air noxious. The location was great, and the park shuttle nearby was convenient. The Park Rangers were all very helpful with check-in and questions. Several Elk at our campsite one day were entertaining, they moved away on their own after about 15 minutes of us keeping a safe distance back behind vehicles.

Very nice campground basically at the center of ground canyon village. Last shower is at 9:45 pm and you need $5 in quarters.Everyone is very nice and had a great time. Crows will wake you up early in the morning.

Being close to the Grand Canyon village saved lots of travel time. The campsite is well run, and the separate hot showers are most welcome! They are open to much later than mentioned on the website.
We walked along the rim trail the first day and hiked the Bright Angel trail to the Plateau Point the second day. The Grand Canyon is awesome!

Nice location with a trail to the restrooms with flush toilets, but not so close to be disturbed by the lights or noise. Convenient bus stop at Mather Campground to get to other locations and trailheads along the rim.We had ravens, deer, and elk searching for water around the campsites and gathering at the water faucet. The ravens liked water bottles, so don't leave any out in the open.

The campgrounds were spacious, well organized, easy to find. The bathrooms were clean, and having the showers nearby was very handy. Great staff.

The campground was very well kept and we loved every moment of it! We stayed in the pine loop area, which was very quiet and beautiful. The restrooms near our campsite were very well kept too! Most definitely do some hiking down the Grand Canyon if you’re legs are ready! We did The South Kaibab to Cedar Ridge trail our first day, which wasn’t too hard if you’re a bit of gym junkies like us, it’s considered a moderate hike. Our day two we were more adventurous and did the Bright Angel Trail down to Pike Creek Beach (Colorado River) up and back in one day. Total 9 hrs of hiking for us. VIEWS DOWN OMG, BREATHTAKING. I could not help thinking how brutal the up climb would be and I was definitely not mistaken. I struggled a lot with the elevation gain getting closer to the end, which meant back to the top! I was having trouble breathing but was able to manage my way back up, thanks to the motivational cheers from the love of my life. I would not recommend anyone do that bike in one day, unless you’re super athletic and can endure what seem like endless switchbacks back up to 7,118ft of altitude. There are campgrounds available at the bottom in Indian Garden Campgrounds, but you must reserve a spot in advance I believe. Also there is an additional charge of course.
Truly a stay at Mather Campgrounds is a MUST in a lifetime! Safe travels
