We stayed in mather at site 100 fir. It was plenty big for our two tents, our travel trailer and our truck. I recommend bringing an awning or easy up to cover the picnic table to provide shade. There is plenty of it around the areas we put our tents but wanted shade over our eating area. All sites have a fire pit. There are water stations throughout the campground. The bathrooms have outlets and mirrors. The showers and laundry are $2.50 per 5 minutes and I believe laundry is pay as you go. It was very convenient and coozy campground. Close to the camp grocery store, hiking/viewpoints, the post office.

Bathroom facilities were excellent and the campground was well maintained. Only 2 complaints: 1) the sites were somewhat small and close together (we were in fir loop), so no privacy, and 2) generators are allowed at breakfast and dinner times. There were only 2 or 3 people in our loop running generators, but the whole campground had to hear them. They should make some or most loops are generator free, so no one has to listen except other generator people (like a smoking section).

This well run campground made it easy to enjoy the canyon scenery, just a stroll through the forest away.

Our family loved our experience while camping at Mather! We were on Fir loop site 100. The entire campground was full and Campsites are fairly close but it was so quiet that it was never a problem. Two of our four nights we heard coyotes close by. Elk and mule deer were a common sight, walking thru campsites several times a day. Very clean restrooms and showers/laundry within walking distance at the front of the campground. (Bring quarters!! Change machine wasn’t working properly one day) The trails are well maintained and clearly marked. Also, we highly recommend the Junior Ranger program if you have children. Rangers and staff are always eager to help. We most definitely hope to return one day.

Well maintained site. Restrooms are a short walking distance away. Women's was above average in terms of cleanliness for a campground. Men's room needed attention during our time there. Just bring some TP just in case. Near a spigot for some utility water (not potable). Site parking is very spacious and easy to maneuver along pull off. Accommodated a 21-22 ft long, 7 ft wide and 9 ft tall campervan plus a 16 ft long vehicle without any issues. We even had room for another 17 ft long vehicle to visit us on occasion.

Nice site, but a pity that motor-traffic is going on all night. We woke up at 3.30 am, when a bunch of noisy motorists were leaving. It went on basically all night. Why not close the gate from 10 to 7, like on so many other campsites. DId not have a good night, we had to cancel our hikingtrip.

Easy access, shaded, level site. Generally quiet.

The park was absolutely beautiful. The store was a well stocked actual grocery store. The staff at every visitor center were wonderful. There were plenty of places to eat and drink in the park. Lots of elk and birds in the campground. There was no ice available at the store or campground or anywhere. The checker at the store just said they were out and didn't have any suggestions. We found out when we got there that no fires were allowed. I am used to this when backpacking or with wilderness permits; but they wouldn't allow fires even in the metal fire pits which seemed really unnecessary. Most of my displeasure comes from the shower situation. The showers were only open from 6am to 1pm. It was over 100 at the rim, 115 at Indian garden and 126 at the river. So after a hot and dusty day of hiking you come back to no possibility of even rinsing off. They claimed this was because of staffing/COVID but give me a break. This was also one of the few camps that also make you pay $2.50 for every 5 min of water. They are coin operated with a change machine on site and I have NO IDEA why the shower requires a attendant? If it's money related maybe just stop making people pay for a shower? The rangers were literal life savers. Seriously, I watched them rescue people all day. I watched one ranger carry a guy out. They are actual heros!

We had a wonderful time here exploring the area. Our site was really nice, a little tight but our small camper worked fine in it. Saw lots of elk throughout the campground.
