Great place to camp in the trees and pick up a shuttle.

check in and info at ranger station was excellent. Bathrooms/showers/laundry were always clean and operating well. Potable water drinking access was limited due to weather limitations but reasonable walking distance. lack of dishwashing stations was a problem. Not sure why one couldn't have been made available at a single or multiple heated points. People were washing dishes at the campsites leaving behind small piles of food waste that was drawing in wildlife. I changed multiple sites during my week long stay and each site had food waste/scrap piles that had flies and ravens. I realize the pipes freezing was an issue but a designated site possible in the shower area or inside one of the restroom areas maybe??

Nice campground inside Grand Canyon NP. The location couldn't have been more perfect, friendly staff. Quite and clean campground. Highly recommend camping here.

The campsite was fine. Shower room was okay. Laundry room had too many machines out of order or closed for social distancing. Groceries in the General Store were overpriced as one might expect. Exorbitantly so for some items however the meat was reasonably priced and good quality. The Visitor Center was closed because of Covid which was disappointing.

Big campsite over looking trees … good location to walk to the general store or restaurant! Quiet and peaceful!

Close enough to the rim to walk.

Easy and comfortable spot to park and camp overnight in my tiny camper. The bathroom was clean. The night was crisp, with a full moon, and we enjoyed a campfire. How can you beat this location, right in the South Village? The grocery store in town was nearby and had everything we needed. A magical destination and a wonderful place to stay.

Mather Campground is amazing! Rangers and park personnel are super friendly, knowledgeable and happy to provide lots of great guidance and suggestions. Every Mather campsite is within easy walking distance of Grand Canyon South Rim trails. We walked out and caught the sunset on our first day. It was nothing short of stunningly beautiful and emotionally overwhelming. Mather is well forested with Pinon Pine, Juniper, Ponderosa Pine, the occasional cactus, grasses, flowers and shrubbery. Songbirds, Doves and Ravens are very common. Other campers said they spotted a Bald Eagle. We weren't so lucky. Small groups of feeding elk frequently grazed near our campsite and can be spotted walking and grazing in nearly every corner of the South Rim area. Bathrooms are clean, well lit and everyone we encountered was wearing a mask to prevent spread of COVID19, as the signs on the bathroom doors politely request. The general store is really well stocked with virtually everything you can normally find in our neighborhood grocery store PLUS unique gifts and mementos PLUS high quality camping and backpacking gear that priced surprisingly well. I bought a pair of top rated hiking shoes that cost the same as advertised on most popular websites. The quality of the meats and produce was a VERY pleasant surprise. It's no wonder Mather Campground is so popular and difficult to book a site so, book early and please show up for your booking! There were way too many booked but, unused campsites!

Loved our three night stay at Mather Campground in Grand Canyon. No hookups but convenient and clean bathrooms. We had Elk walking through the campground and the Grand Canyon is just a few minute drive.

Site 263 is a muddy muddy mud pit when it rains or snows. But hey, it’s nature :)

Loved the campground, cleanliness, and the stars and proximity to the Canyon. Can't wait to go back.
