The place is as in the description. Only downpoint is that you have to pay 2.5 $ for 5 min of water in the showers and they are not very good.

Our experience was fantastic. We traveled from Ecuador to see one of the most impressive natural wonders in the world and it was worth it.The equipment is adequate for the camping area.

Mather was one of the best campsites I've ever stayed at! Everything was clean, the toilets were flushing which was super nice, and even though the campground was full everyone was very quiet and respectful. It's also very close to a town with restaurants and shops, and is located close to the South Rim Visitor Center (a very short drive, and there are tons of shuttles to help you get around in the park!). When we arrived at 8:30pm there was no line to get into the park and the ranger was very helpful. Because we arrived late we did check-in and out the next morning and it was incredibly simple. We also saw Elk (and babies!) every day we were there which was amazing. The Desert View Road is close-by and very scenic for anyone who wants to get great views without having to hike a bunch or doesn't have a bunch of time! And they have turn outs/parking lots all along the road to get out and take pictures! We did experience a desert monsoon while there in the middle of July so be prepared for some rain and hail! (We weren't and it caught us by surprise).

My only concern is the high demand for camping at Mather Campground. One must make plans months in advance to be successful in making a reservation. We enjoyed the beautiful campground and being senior citizens we used our Golden Age pass and our camping fee was only $9 per night. Bathrooms are nice and clean, showers available, and within easy walking distance to the market and the rim trail.

The campsites here are clean, Spacious, and well-maintained. Within walking distance to the free bus service around the park and laundry and showers! Definitely stay here again.

We loved camping in Mather Campground, with its ample space for the sites, clean bathrooms and beautiful night skies. We enjoyed Ranger talks in the amphitheater, what interesting topics delivered with humor and an interactive format! c, we hiked the entire Rim Trail over 2 days…. Use the shuttle buses that come to Mather for all your mobility needs!

I like that the campground is easily accessible to everything I wanted to see while I was there. I walked from the campground to Bright Angel trailhead. I could also walk to the market plaza from there and various other attractions on the south rim. The only drawback, in my opinion, is the closeness of campsites, but I was willing to have that for the convenience of everything else. It's also beautiful up there so that doesn't hurt 😊
