Ranger Mark Adam was awesome when we had booked a sight that was not going to work for us. He was able to get us in to a first come site that was perfect. He was very kind & pleasant while getting this figured out for us. The campground was clean & well maintained. Its great to know that there are people who still take care in their job, making this one of the best visits to a national park that we have had!

the campground is beautiful and clean and you really get the feeling of being in the mountains and nature instead of a private campground where everybody is jammed together.

Mathers campground was great set among the pine trees so it was beautiful and didnt get too hot. Only thing that would make it better would be water and electric!

Site was a drive through with a fairly large open area adjacent to the paved RV parking strip. apply room to set up shade tent, chairs, fire pick. Pleasant area overall, reasonable distance between sites. Conveniently located close to Park shops, restaurant and groceries. Given there were no hookups, reasonably close to restrooms, and fresh water. Easy in and back out for day trips. I would definitely stay there again.

Such a spacious and beautiful campground right inside the park. Although the roads and paved campsites are tight to get in and out of, there is a lot of room between campsites. The trees make it feel very private and lush.

Our campsite was large which allowed us to have our chairs next to the campfire ring about 15 yards away from the trailer. Daily, a small herd of elk strolled through and nibbled branches. In mid to late March, there were still patches of snow on the ground. Keep all food and trash tucked away or large ravens will make a mess of it. The road winding through the campground was really narrow forcing us to leave the pavement to allow a vehicle to pass. There was enough sun to charge our solar panels (we were in Juniper Loop site 125). I would stay here again. We learned that the east end of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon is the area less traveled and more picturesque in my opinion. Areas on the western side of the South Rim were packed with crowds from 10am to 3pm.

Huge campsites, very clean bathroom, and an elk herd wandered through at breakfast. What's not to like?!

Lack of shuttle service from camp ground was a disappointment. Wish there was at least some limited shuttle service. Nice and spacious camp sites.
