Loved it! Such a nice campground with a short walk to a pretty view of the grand canyon. Recommend!

It was a nice setting with clean bathrooms and accessible fresh drinking water. No RV dump or water fill station, but you can do that at Mather's Campground near the visitor center.

Easy to access with an amazing view through the park to get there. Site was clean and very nice. Camp hosts were very friendly and informative. The little hike to the rim at sunset blew my mind. WOW! I plan on coming back!!!

This is a smaller and quieter campground than Mather. It is also 25 miles to the village so not as convenient. There is a 5 minute walk to the rim for lovely views of the canyon and the Colorado River. It is just past campsite 46. You can also walk to the main facilities at Desert View in about 15 minutes. My campsite was 44. I have camped here before and enjoy the site except there are many cow patties in the campsite which are not very pleasant to look at. The trees in the campground are small and don't break the wind. I was there at the last part of May and the wind was furious most of the time I was there. It was driving the campground host nuts as well. It was definitely unpleasant to be outside. I was grateful to leave after three nights. The restrooms are nice. The campground host helpful and hard working. It was quiet during the day as most people chose to stay just one night. Despite the drawbacks I prefer this campground to Mather. The are no first come first serve sites at Desert View, so don't even go in and ask unless you have an emergency. They keep one site for that. As for Mather, even if the sign says campground full you should stop and ask anyway. Despite the full sign I stopped a month ago and was given a site for one night as they hold some back from Recreation.gov. I was told I could have another site the next day if I went to check in around 10 AM. Grand Canyon is a beautiful place to visit despite the crowds.

Enjoyed our second visit to the campground every bit as much as the first. Well maintained facilities and friendly hosts. Easy walk to Watch Tower, deli/market, etc. at Desert View.

We loved Desert View Campground! The hosts were kind and helpful, the sites were well spaced out giving us plenty of privacy, and there was plenty of shade. Bathrooms were clean and the potable water was easy to access. To top it all off, the short walk to the Rim from the Campground was amazing! Thank you for the great experience!

This was a wonderful campground. Facilities were clean, the sites were separated by trees so it felt fairly private.

Desert View is awesome. Super nice to be in a small campground at the Grand Canyon (!!!), makes the experience feel more wild and natural. Campground has a bathroom, utility sink, and a few after pumps, all you need for a car camping experience. Great stay!

I stayed at the Desert View Campground 5 nights from May 17 to May 22, 2022. Overall my experience was a good one. I had a difficult and frustrating time with the cell phone coverage everywhere at the Grand Canyon. Possibly it is my carrier which is Consumer Cellular with T-Mobile service. This is the quiet campground 30 miles from the village so it has advantages and disadvantages. It is an easy walk to the tower and services. I stayed in site 44 which is excellent. There is a trail to the rim with great views just west of me (at site 46) which is a quarter mile long. Highly recommended. The volunteer management at the campground is excellent as it always seems to be at this campground. Campers I spoke with said they had a hard time booking at it was usually full but perseverance pays off. When you approach the campground you will be greeted by signs saying the campground is full. This is because it is a reservation campground and you cannot just drive in to find a spot anymore. However, there is one campsite reserved for emergencies so if you arrive really late or have another situation it is worth considering driving in and speaking with the attendant. I think you will enjoy this campground.

great small campground! Camp host was very friendly and gave a lot of canyon viewpoints. there are 50 spots in total, all for small vehicles. there is a small unmarked trail that will take you to the canyon edge where you can watch the sunrise. this is the first public place you can watch the sun kiss the canyon floor in the mornings.
