Great, quiet campground on the east side of the park, within walking distance of the South Rim! Campground host is very friendly and the sites are clean and spacious.

This was a beautiful, quiet, and very convenient campground. I was here with a friend (both women) and we felt safe and comfortable for the two nights we stayed here. There are nice restrooms (with water!) where you can use a sink and toilette, but there are no showers. There is also potable water and a sink specific for dishes. So, you can stay tidy and hydrated easily. The rangers were friend and VERY helpful at check-in. Without prompting, I was told the time of sunset and sunrise and then handed a map which the ranger used to show me where to hike to see the best views for each. This was the real height of this campground - absolutely stunning views of sunrise and sunset over the canyon, only a five minute walk away from where I pitched my tent. Also, if you have an early hike into the canyon, like we did, taking off nearer the South Rim visitor centers, this is not an inconvenient place to stay. You just need to include a 40 minute cushion to drive, park, and get a shuttle to your trailhead. That was a downside at 3:30 a.m., when we were packing up our camp, but it would have been an early morning regardless. And the other benefits made this worth it.I would gladly stay here again.

Nice campground, clean, good access and gas station but a bit far away from the happening in Grand Canyon, we were glad that we could sleep the last night at Mother Campground.

--I thoroughly enjoyed my 3-night stay at Desert View Campground - I love the pion Juniper setting & open canopy for viewing the Milky Way/Stars. I lad a great level pull-through site for my little van motorhome. It is so nice that it is within walking distance from the Desert Tower. This campground & the Tower area are not as busy at the South Rim Village area. I had one sunrise near the Tower all by myself! I enjoyed nice visits with the rangers & campground host. --The Tower area is great for viewing the Sunrise & Sunset, & of course the Tower is fantastic, inside & out. I was pleased to be able to purchase coffee in the Trading Post, & pizza in the Market Deli. --This campground is a good staging area for a visit to Marble Canyon & Lee's Ferry.--In recent years my Canyon visits have been in November when this campground was closed. I do hope to visit Desert View Campground again! !!

We stayed at Desert View in a 24ft. motorhome. The pull-through campsites are a little tight for slides because they have trees, which is also awesome! We managed just fine after a few adjustments. It is a lovely, quiet place to stay during your visit to the Grand Canyon.
