Our hoist was friendly and helpful during our visit. We had a hard time getting contact with a person to get us a place to camp, finally worked out though.

Nice clean camp, the host was kind. The camp is good starting point if you want to take a hike or just go to to tower, 10min walk to the tower, caffe, visitor center and market.

Incredible campground. Very short walk to canyon rim which we took full advantage of to watch the sun set and rise. I'm surprised more people don't utilize it because we had the rim to ourselves for hours from that vantage point. Fresh water and restrooms available. The stars are stunning at night. Will absolutely be back.

The camp host was wonderful, diligent in keeping the grounds and bathrooms clean and protective keeping the scavengers out. I felt safe and comfortable knowing Allan was on duty.

The sign at campground said full and each campsite was marked with a sign saying occupied. Fewer than half the sites were actually occupied, and the reservations for most of the unoccupied sites had been canceled online. There was no cell phone coverage at Desert View, so we had to drive a few miles back towards Grand Canyon village in order to get coverage to reserve an available site. The National Parks Service should figure out how to change their campground reservation system to discourage people from reserving campsites online and canceling at the last minute. They could require a deposit in addition to the site fee that is fully refundable if you show up and camp or if you cancel two weeks in advance. After that, the amount of the deposit refund would decrease the closer cancellations were to the reservation date.RVs should all be grouped together in the campground because they run generators from 7 am to 9 am and from 6 pm to 8 pm. Or even better, generators should be totally banned. Otherwise, everyone can forget about listening to nature as part of their camping experience. There's a short trail (a couple hundred yards) from the campground to the canyon's edge that's really nice for early morning canyon viewing. The bathrooms were clean. The campground hosts were nice and helpful.High winds made tent camping a challenge. Bring heavy duty steel stakes because you'll need them to get them in the hard rocky ground. You'll want to be staked down well if the wind picks up like it did when we were there.

This was my first time camping and honestly it was an amazing experience! It rained when I got there so I was in my car for about 40 minutes but after that it all cleared out and my experience was amazing! I loved the views, the park police were super nice!

Awesome campground in a beautiful spot! This is the place to camp if you want to be near the canyon but away from the chaos of the main village. Super peaceful and the sunset next to the watchtower was spectacular. Will definitely be back!

The Desert View campground is wonderfully maintained and a refreshing change from the bustle of Canyon Village. Our camp host (Roe) was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area!
