Excellent spot, walking distance to the deli and watch tower.

We arrived late and there was no one at the entrance gate going into the park. I wasnt sure if we had to pay or if our reservation included the access. The south rim campsite was perfect. Easy in and out. We didnt have much time so we drove from our site to the watchtower. Definitely worth getting up early for the sunrise

A truly memorable camping experience! The site was spacious and perfectly located near a stunning viewpoint. Facilities were impressively clean and quiet, adding to the peaceful atmosphere. We even spotted cow elks, which made the trip feel even more connected to nature. The campgrounds location is ideal for anyone seeking a beautiful, immersive escape into the wild. Highly recommended!

Appreciated how easy it was to reserve a site. The park host greeted us and immediately recommended great sites for sunrises and sunsets. Ended up extending stay from one to three days even though we had to move each day. It was great to watch the sunrises at the campground and then enjoy the morning light at each of the overviews along the drive to the Village. The park hosts did a great job of cleaning up the campsites before new arrivals and kept the flush toilets nice and clean.

Such a beautiful campground. Quiet, great sunset canyon views, and convenient to the Tower area. Its a little farther than expected from the main part of the South Rim park of the park, but that makes it nicer.

The camp grounds were well maintained. Our campsite was number 48. We tent camped and it was rather windy on that side of the campgrounds. Keep that in mind if you're a light sleeper. The site itself was large and could easily accommodate 2 large tents. The rest rooms are towards the center of the camp grounds, not a far walk. The restrooms where clean with flush toilets, toilet paper, sinks, hand soap and hand dryers (no paper towels). The camp hosts are adjacent to the restrooms and check you in quickly. The camp ground is a short walk to Desert View Watchtower. It's about a 45 minutes plus drive to the Grand Canyon Village and a 40 minute drive thru Navajo land to Cameron. Overall it was a great experience.

Great camp site. The camp host were however a little over zealous. I realize it was the first week open so hopefully they will settle down and get in sink with the rangers. Otherwise it was wonderful.

Beautiful campground with lovely, well-spaced camp sites. And the rim of the canyon is only a short walk away without all the crowds! Only wish we could have stayed longer!

There was quite a bit of construction in our area. The observation top deck was closed. There were several buildings closed and not available. This was disappointing. The park was not kept well. We had a great time despite these issues. The Grand Canyon should be a must see on anyones list.

Now THIS was a fantastic campground. Scenic, quiet, and all the amenities we needed to have a great overnight stay. No showers on site, but because we were just there one day, this was not an issue.

While all sites at Desert View Campground are reservable on recreation.gov, the messaging at the campground is confusing. Each campsite has a sign indicating 'Reserved, Check-in with Camp Host,' whether the site was reserved for that night or not. A more complete message would be 'Reservable on recreation.gov.' During our stay, approximately 10 sites were occupied out of the 50. Desert VIew is a great option for visiting Grand Canyon.
