I traveled with a Scouting America Troop from Massachusetts and stayed at a Group Site in the C Loop. The facilities were spotless, staff was friendly, and other campers were respectful. But the view was spectacular! Our site had a panoramic view of the mountains that would take your breath away! My two complaints would be that (a) the gravel tent pads were not very practical because it was nearly impossible to get the tent staked and (b) shade was sparse and there were no trees for the Scouts to erect a rainfly.

Place beautiful but restroom and showers very dirty in a very uncomfortable condition- we were disappointed

We stayed at one of the group campsites at St Marys campground. We had a group of 10 that arrived in 2 vehicles and had 3 tents set up. Parking is scarce so if you plan to arrive with more than 3 vehicles then you will probably have a hard time if there are other campers next to your site. The group sites were at the edge of the campground so it was secluded but not too far away from the bathrooms and showers. The facilities were phenomenal for a national park (weve been to a few big ones). The bathrooms were clean and the showers had hot water. I liked that each site had a picnic table and bench seating around the fire pit that also had grill grates (the group ones had at least 2-3 picnic tables and benches). We enjoyed the evening ranger programs that were educational. Everyone who worked there was polite and educated. We also liked that the campsite was by the Going to the Sun road which was very convenient as well as being close to the visitor center and the west village. Grabbing fuel and wood and food was very convenient because of the location of St Mary Campground. I advise you to reserve your sites in advance (we booked 10 months in advance) since the campgrounds fill up by afternoon in the busy summertime. We enjoyed the scenery of Going to the Sun road and we really enjoyed the hike to Virginia Falls- which we took the free shuttle rides to and from the visitor center and we highly recommend because parking at these popular hikes was impossible unless you go super early or super late! We camped for 4 nights with 4 littles ones (all under 6 years of age). We plan to come back in 5 years so we can do more hikes and sight seeing! Glacier is our favorite national park so far.
