I stayed again for seven nights and have stayed many times before. Its a good base for when I am doing certain hikes on the GTTSR or when the weather gets worse for a bit in the area compared to other camps. Cell service is pretty good for those times. I have had bears in the campground, even at my site, eating berries so you have to watch for those. This fall, it might have been the biggest concentration of remaining berries in the park so I was expecting bears at all times. Toilet situation is not ideal late in season. Busier than original plans intended. I think the only reason they only keep loop C open after water and the others are closed is that this is the loop with a pit toilet and the others do not have that. Wish they would install a pit toilet in another loop or two and be able to keep more spots open.

We stayed at C155 at the end of August. The campsite is spacious and has great views. The serviceberries were abundant. The birds in the morning plentiful. We walked to the St. Mary River bridge at dusk and saw a beaver in the river, heard some elk bugling in the distance. It's as far away from the karaoke bar as you can be but I still recommend earplugs on Mondays and Wednesdays when the local staff goes wild at the bar and you are a light sleeper.

This campground was great! Beautiful views from LOTS of sites, bathrooms and shower facilities were clear and working well, and nice unobtrusive staff. We were in C155 which I thought was a great site with no visible neighbors and shade in the afternoon, but best of all, an incredible view! We thought the east side of the park was so gorgeous and we were so glad we decided to base camp at St. Mary's with easy access to Medicine and Many Glacier.

This site is the best one we saw in the campground. Plenty of room to spread out and not too close to neighbors!
