The campsite itself was very nice, We had ample room, and it is very beautiful. However, what makes it hard (if you have a small pop up Chalet trailer like we do, or are tent camping) is that there are no individual bear boxes per campsite. Several campsites need to share a bear box so there just isn't much space. Instead, you have to put everything in your car or hard sided camper ANY time you leave the site. It was like breaking camp every day. You can't leave your campstove or any cleaning products or any cookwear out. It made it very hard. If there were bear boxes in each site (which has been our exjperience at every other place we have ever camped) it would have been easier.Also, this campsite is west of the Apgar entrance and so you need to get a timed entry pass to proceed to the Going to the Sun Road. Our way around this was to get up very early and get across the entry before 7 am when a pass is not required. You want to do this anyway, because the road only gets more crowded as the day goes on, and there is limited parking at most of the interesting sites. The next time we come to Glacier we will camp on the east side, OR at a location past the Apgar gate. When we do come again, we will camp to save money on lodging, but eat in the restaurants at Apgar Village, or the big Lodge at the East enrance rather than trying to cook at the campsite. It you have an RV that you can cook in, it may be okay, but we like cooking outsidel...breaking camp to go anywhere was just hard.
