Campground is on the lake and close to Apgar Visitor Center thus very conveniently located for entering Glacier on Going to the Sun Road. Campsite was flat and campground/bathrooms were clean. We did not preplan but was able to make a late reservation for Labor Day. We were able to get a campsite at St. Mary's (first come first serve) for the rest of our trip. We stayed at Glacier until September 11th, the date there are no longer vehicle reservations for the Going to the Sun Road. On the 11th the traffic was backed up for 2.5 miles to get through the West entrance check point to show your park pass. We are so glad we visited the park before the vehicle reservations were lifted, they definitely serve a purpose.

Fish Creek Campground had most of the things we needed. I'd like to suggest that another bath house be installed. With the heavy usage it was difficult to find a time available. The only one is in the A Loop. We stayed in Loop B which gave us great access to everything on the west side of the park. Polebridge Mercatile had the always wonderful huckleberry bear claws & breakfast sandwiches. Bowman Lake did not disappoint with it's tranquil beauty. Well worth the 30 minutes it took to navigate the 6-mile rough road to get there. Just take your time & you won't have issues with oncoming traffic or bumpy parts of the road. We did spend a lot of time on the east side of the park as well. Grizzlies & moose were abundant sightings during our stay. We enjoyed them at a safe distance. One of the best places to see moose is Fisher Cap Lake, a short hike from Swiftcurrent Motel in the Many Glacier area. They feed in there early in the day & sometime late afternoon through evening. Take your bear spray as grizzlies also frequent the area. I highly recommend the boat tours from Glacier Boat Tours. We have done the Two Medicine, Many Glacier, St. Mary's Lake Tours. All were beautiful & had access to hikes into waterfalls.

This place is amazing. The staff was so friendly, the facilities gleamed and the location was a 10!

Make sure you hike the trail right out of loop A and do the nature trail to the hidden beaches.
