Our campsite was very spacious, private and right next to the river. A nice short walk to the Blue Hole, a nice swimming hole. The lack of water isnt a big deal because Packwood is a short driving distance in case you run out . All the pit toilets were clean except for the one closest to our campsite. I didnt use it because it was very stinky and the doors didnt lock.

Lack of water and extremely stinky bathroom made us leave after two days. We forfeited two days of camping. Sad to see how the campground has changed.

Th campground is in an incredible location! It is really nice to be so close to a gorgeous river and surrounded by the trees and mountain. With that said, they really pack the sites in for a large percentage of the campsite. When you drive through it feels like the sites are on top of each other. There are people constantly riding around on electric bikes and driving remote control cars which makes it feels like less of an escape from the city. The bathrooms in the D loop are pretty old compared to others in the grounds. The windows are both broken and there are flies everywhere. Every morning the toilet paper would be out and it would take hours, often until 12pm, for the staff to come by to clean the bathrooms and restock toilet paper. There also currently isnt any water at the campground and based on reviews it looks like they havent had water in a couple years. Overall, it is nice because the surrounding area is gorgeous but the actual campground could use a little work.

Beautiful campsite, right on the river with lots of space and privacy. You can get down to the river on a little dirt slope, that leads to rocks, but the river is still accessible from this site.

We'been here 6+ times and this was one of the best: campfires allowed, beautiful weather, and good friends!Looks like a reconditioned fresh water system is in place and still in wrapping. What's going on? Yes, we can bring our own water, but this second season without water makes me wonder.

Beautiful campground with sites right on the river! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, no running water.

This Site is my favorite in the entire campground, river access and partial shade is a great touch. Staff was very kind and helpful

The campsite was lovely, but there is still no running water available (was here last month and it was not working then either). Also, the nearest two bathrooms were closed. We had to walk very very far to use the restroom.

While we loved the setting of the campsite and the proximity to Rainier National Park, we found the camp to be poorly managed. We never saw a camp host either in their own posted camp or anywhere on the property for our entire stay which was a literal danger to the park and forest because many campers were illegally burning firewood during a posted fire ban. Many of the bathrooms were in awful shape and lacked toilet paper. I don't understand how one of the largest camps next to one of the most beautiful national parks in the state, let alone the nation, has such an embarassment of a campsite to serve the people who want to visit the area. This area is beautiful and needs to be respected but not staffing or holding the camp host to a standard of conduct is a danger to the land and the people.

We got in on a short-notice reservation for La Wis Wis campground for a double spot 18M Loop D right on the river. It was amazing for its location and had lots of room. Now one of our favorite spots! There was an issue with water but we were notified with plenty of time to pack our own. The only downer was the vault toilet not being maintained thru the weekend but we packed extra TP Cell coverage was almost nonexistent for our phones but our older iPad managed to get 1 bar in our tent so it became our hotspot for emergency contacts and text

The best campground in Washington. Large, shaded sites, tall Douglas firs, sparkling river!

Nice campground located snuggly in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, along the Cowlitz River. The campsites were spacious and very nicely shaded by the trees. The non-moveable picnic tables were great. The bathrooms are only vault toilets or port-a-potties, however they were very nicely kept up. Cell phone service was almost non existent, not a problem if you’re trying to connect with nature. You’ll love the peace and calm. Overall, a very cozy campsite that’s begs to be returned to.
