Campground and areas surrounding were in good shape. My only complaint was the broken glass around the beach line on the lake. We picked up a great deal of what we saw, but there was definitely more there.

The campgrounds were nice, well taken care of. The bathhouses were clean, the water was nice and hot. The third day the handle had been broken off, it was repaired very promptly. We stayed in site 64 it was easy for to setup and takedown. A very nice young family next door. We had a great visit!!

My stay was EXCELLENT except for the woman who was manning the gate. Our site was still occupied when we arrived so we had to pull off to the side and wait. You are to stay with your vehicle. We arrived 1.5 hr early and after a 4.5 hr ride, the woman at the gate didn't want me to walk 1/2mi. into the campground (my husband was still with our vehicle) to use the rest room. She wanted me to go to the day use area which was at least 2x as far. Did she think I was going to pull my trailer over there just to use the restroom? I'm all for rules, but sometimes a little leniency is in order. She was just being totally ridiculous. Glad I didn't see her for the remainder of my stay.

I really enjoyed my camping experience. I stayed on site 64. The views are incredible and the sunsets are spectacular. The site was good sized. Bathrooms were clean and good sized. The host and maintenance staff were great.

We were in a pull through site which was kind of small for us, but the view of the sunset over the lake was gorgeous. I wish this campground were closer to our home so we could visit more often.

We loved the area, and lake, we only stayed one night, we will be back someday!But we did have a mishap! we have a 45ft class a with tow, we selected space 64 pull thru so we did not have to disconnect,. this site is not suitable for a 45ft class A anything else that long. The pull through is deceaving, looks like you have enough room to pull in and turn thru?? nope you don't, we damaged our side lower door trying to turn in, the railroad ties were old and folding in on the driveway, our fault, but in the morning we had to disconnect and back out, took us 45min! Anyways, we will be back, just make sure the site fits you. even if it sayd 50ft.

This was a very nice USACE park. I can't believe I "RV'd" for almost 5 years before I learned about this group of RV parks. So far I have had lovely (and affordable) experiences in MS, AL and SC at these locations. R Shaefer Heard was particularly nice, with very nice and welcoming folks at the gate, clean working bath-house facilities, and great views around the lake. The sites were not too close together, either.

As always, the sites are well kept and the restrooms clean. I always book online so checking in is easy. This is one of my favorite campgrounds at West Point Lake. The only recommendation I would have is that in the shower area an additional shower curtain be added to the second shower area as the changing area is out in the open and us ladies are a little more modest.

Love this Camp Ground. We return here each year. The Staff is great, the Camp Sites are numerous and offer something different that should meet anyone's particular need. The lake views of many are fabulous and many sites allow you to park your boat easily right next to your site. They have public bathrooms everywhere. Only a few shower houses ( which is the only negative I could see). The Camp Ground is just part of a much bigger Park. Take time out to go over and see the Hydro Electric Dam and it's visitor center. If you need anything such as supplies the city of West Point is a short drive away. This is a fabulous camp ground.
