The weather was below freezing, but the shower house was nice and warm and clean. When the sun was shining and the wind calmed, it was very relaxing to take a stroll along the lakes edge, especially since the lake level is so low. Going to view the dam is a nice activity.

I spent 2 days here. I really liked the site.It was so nice that the bathroom was close by. I called Gest. I couldn't go out past 10 and stayed up all night.

The hosts were wonderful - James and his wifeThe campsites large, private with wonderful water and sunset views. The overall campground is lovely. The bath house is clean just need some updating. We will be back to camp again!

Nice quiet park. Bathrooms could be updated which makes them look dirty, but they were clean. Spacious sites, nice views of the lake. Cold wind off the water during our stay at the end of December into January. Would definitely go back.

We love R Shafer Heard camp ground. It is always clean, quiet, and the camp host are friendly. When there are issues with bathrooms or other campers. The issues are dealt with promptly. We were on site 43. This is a site with beautiful views and sunsets. If you have a boat, just be aware of the lake levels. This site has a drop off to the lake when the lake is low. We were able to climb like goats,heheheheheh, to get to our boat. But, this will not keep us from staying on this site. Rogers in West Point, just 5 mins.away , has great home cooked food. Just a little further and you can have Mexican, or pizza.

Beautiful park. Staff at check in was very accommodating. Bathrooms and grounds are very clean and well maintained. Sites are very private and kept in natural states. Lots of space to walk and ride bikes. Very close to food shopping, etc.

We were in site 43 with a beautiful view of the Lake. All the facilities were clean and we enjoyed our trip. We took several hikes along the walking trails and they were nice. We enjoyed our stay and will be returning.

Our first trip to Shaffer Heard was awesome. Very quiet and peaceful!! We ended up staying 5 days with a lot right on the water.

Site was clean, excellent view of the lake and close to the restrooms. This is the one of the best lots in the park for the view and ease of access.

Bit off the beaten path but very worth it. Nice hiking trails and many sites right on the water. Bathrooms being refurbished.
