Sprawling campground in a rapidly urbanizing area. This campground will soon be an island of recreation and trees in a sea of houses and auto manufacturing plants. Sites huge, well spaced, wooded, private. Some driveways can be steep, long for back in. Concrete and asphalt sites mostly. A good but distant enough base for exploring Atlanta, Columbus, Pine Mountain, Tuskegee, and Auburn attractions. Gates locked overnight. You can leave, but you cannot get back in until dawn. In the Eastern Time Zone, barely phone times change as you walk about in the campground and can change back and forth from Eastern to Central at campsites.

This is a very nice U.S. Corps of Engineers park. It has many nice camping spots and easy access to the lake. Folks at check-in and the ranger station were very friendly and wanted to help if they could. Very good camping experience.

We stayed one night and our site was very nice but the experience at the the check in station was absolutely miserable. The attendant was rude and disrespectful. I understand he is responsible for fully acquainting campers with all the various details regarding the park, my site, regulations, etc. but his prison guard overbearing attitude was quite inappropriate. I have stayed at many COE parks, all without a problem but this attendant should be working at a private park somewhere else, not at a taxpayer funded facility. We will not be returning.

This park is a gem! It was quiet, clean, and beautiful. I want to add it to a yearly list it was so impressive! The bathrooms were super clean and neighbors were friendly and respectful. Kudos to the park staff for operating and such C 19 conditions I didn’t feel feel fearful at all. Campsites were beautiful views were gorgeous.
