R Shaefer Heard campground was a beautiful campground. Sites were well spread out. The playground was just one slide and a few swings but it did the job. The shower house was fine. We stayed on site 76. The site was pretty secluded feeling and large. Getting to the lake its extremely rocky on the slope down and into the water, so swimming wouldnt be super easy. There was also an insane amount of ants near the shore line and my daughter got bit quite a few times from an ant bed hidden under pine straw. We sprayed afterwards and did our best to avoid the beds. Overall, the site was great, and we had a great time.

Nice camp ground with 107 sites. If you are in a larger camper pay attention that you get a 50 amp hookup. There are several 30 amp hook ups in the campground. It is on my favorite list.

What a wonderful campground! Site 76 was a little steep, but we managed to get in with our 30ft trailer. The lake view was beautiful and felt very private. The pull through sites are ones I'd likely stay away from mostly as they are almost all near/parallel to the campground roads. There weren't many sites I'd stay away from here. They all have their own attributes! Can't wait to come back!

We have stayed at many Army Corps campgrounds. This one had sub par facilities and lack of them. The proximity of the showers and toilets is not convenient to some sites especially if you have younger children.
The site we had was amazing though! Well kept and no leveling of camper needed once it was backed in. Will keep this campground in mind when traveling.

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
