Really nice park and well spaced sites. If you get in after dark it is pitch black, so an occasional light along the roads would help immensely. My site was nice and level.

R Shaefer Heard Campground is one of our favorite places to camp in the southwest Georgia area. It is right on the lake and almost all of the sites are waterfront. There is an abundance of wildlife in the park. There are plenty of things to do in the area and it is a relaxing place to spend a weekend or longer.

Just a quick overnight stay, but a wonderful well maintained park.

Every site is well maintained and large. The beauty of the sites overlooking the lake is second to none. We will be back!

We had a very good site #009 plenty of space and not bunched up like at other parks. Only problem was no phone service, at least you could make calls. Will be back

If you have a National Park discount card, be sure to take it with you whenever you go camping. I made the reservations online, and I entered the pass number and name as requested during the online registration. I forgot to put the discount card back in the truck, and when we got to the campground they would not let us register or enter. I only live 30 miles away, so I asked if I could setup and then run home and get the card, but they said no. I had to pay full price. You would think they could verify the card number from the online registration, and we showed them our ID. We had to pay full price with no discount.

We love to camp at r shaefer heard. It's always been nice and enjoyable. We love to fish, kayak, ride bicycles, hike, relax sitting by the camp fire and so much more.

Campground was very clean and easy to park and level our 31 foot camper. Other campers there were considerate and very polite and respectful of quiet hours.
