Beautiful campground, folks at the gate were great, and campsite was right on the lake. Only problems I had was it rained both days

Beautiful spacious sites. My family will definitely return at some point. My family took in the Wild Animal Safari, Callaway Gardens Christmas Fantasy in Lights, and Callaway Gardens Country Kitchen all with our extended family members while at the campground. The bathhouses and restrooms could use some attention and modern updates. If you stay for an extended period of time, you may have to utilize the bathhouse to avoid multiple trips per day to the dump station with the portable waste tank since the sites do not have sewer. However, that is uncommon with most COE parks. While the bathhouses were not ideal, the site space and other amenities outweighed the negative. I will note that I wish they provided a revolving gate code to registered guests to get in the campground after 10pm. You will get locked out after 10pm. They will let you out in an emergency, but missing curfew will not get the gate opened. So, unfortunately we didn’t get to experience the Christmas lights at Callaway as much as we would have liked due to our 10 pm curfew. Also, on your trip into the campground, find a route where you do not have to go over the dam to get to the campground. If you do go over the dam, I hope you are lucky like we were and don’t encounter oncoming traffic. If you do and someone is pulling a camper somebody will be backing up. All things considered we can’t wait to return. I hope this doesn’t come across as a negative review. I just want to advise those who may be staying for the first time at this campground. One more thing. If staying during football season, don’t expect many off air channels, and Verizon coverage was so poor that we could not stream.

We camped for two days with a waterfront sight. The sight was well maintained; large area, shade, big sandy type area with fire pit and a place to hang your lantern (or trash), and a grill. The sight had a beautiful view of the lake. We walked several campsites on the "left" side of the park. Every sight was beautiful and all had the same amenities. After two days we moved to the "mountains". I believe it starts with sight 67. These are on the side of the mountain, but all have water views. Some are larger than others; some have beautiful expansive wooden decks. Most all have firepits and grills. (We did notice a few that did not have a grill). Some are directly on the water but the shoreline is secured by large boulders. Some are very secluded, a few are right off the side of the road. Several are pull through but the majority are back in. We had a 30 ft Class C and did not see a sight we could not use. Overall we did not see a bad place. We were only there to "get away", sit, chill and do nothing. There is a boat ramp and we saw lots of boats, pontoons, jetskis pulled right up to the campsights. There are several bath houses and restrooms. We have already made our next reservation and plan on visiting here as often as we can. BTW: of you need supplies, there is a Dollar General Market just a few miles to the left after you exit the park which carries all kinds of staples and lots of other foods as well. To the right is WestPoint, and is about a 15 minute drive away (by motorhome).
