Tent camped in a new area of the grounds. Lake water is very low so no sailing. Had an excellent time with my beagle. The camp host were informative and friendly.

The camping trip was a wonderful family experience! The site itself was clean, well-maintained, and perfectly suited for our family vacation. The weather was absolutely beautiful the entire time, making for perfect days of exploring, relaxing, and quality time together. We did note that the lake was down significantly, which slightly impacted water activities, but honestly, the gorgeous surroundings and great atmosphere more than made up for it. We managed to have an incredible time and are already looking forward to our return visit! Highly recommended for a fantastic, relaxing getaway.

Campgrounds were in great condition, very clean. Shower facilities also in great condition - clean, good hot water and water pressure. Campground check-in was easy and staff were welcoming and helpful. She even went above and beyond when she realized we had not been able to apply our National Senior Pass discount when we booked online, and so she took care of it immediately. Sorry I did not get her name.

One of the best COEs in the south. We have stayed here three times and would welcome another opportunity to visit.

We have visited this part in two occasions so far. Very clean and well kept property with spacious camping spots. The bath house was super clean, very warm with lots of hot water for a January weekend.

We have camped a number of times at Shaefer Heard. We have always enjoyed each time even though we have a habit of scheduling when it chooses to rain :) . We have several lots that we try really like and try to schedule repeat times on these lots. Others have the same choices as certain lots are booked as soon as they are available. We booked 63 for March 10-18 not realizing we had a new camper since the last time we booked 63. We had to adjust the position of the camper to the drive width, the water and electric hook-up and the tree in the front of the camper. New camper has a slide, is about 2-3 feet longer and we just didn't fit the way we wanted to. Opening the awning we were against a tree and had poor access to the space in front of the camper. We did not have our boat with us and the on-site parking was very tight with just our truck and a car. We aren't saying this to complain , rather we are advising others to double check the lots they choose, especially if they have a new camper. Even after camping for the last two years we are still driving the campgrounds each trip to see if we see another lot we may want to try out. We always try to be close to the bathhouse and have never been disappointed in the condition or cleanliness of any of the facilities. The playground area is nice and the walking and bike riding is great. We have enjoyed Shaefer Heard and also camped at Amity and White Tail several times. West Point and LaGrange GA have restaurants that are great if you don't want to take a break and not cook. Traveling only 30 minutes to any of the camps is awesome for us. The front gate personnel are friendly, courteous, and help with anything we have questions about. We are really enjoying West Point Lake and the wonderful campgrounds to choose from . Thank you for what you do for all of us who love to camp.

The camp hosts that were there at the time of my camping (mid-November 2021) were very polite and very helpful when a problem occurred with my reservation. Upon my arrival to my camp site I found someone else there who did not have permission to be at my reserved campsite. Once notified the camp hosts took care of it and all was well.
Site #63 was a great site!! We were overall happy with our stay. Bath house could use a little upgrading. Any time we called the gatehouse for help they were very friendly and accommodating.
