Stayed here to visit relatives in Lagrange. Beautiful park. Awesome campground hosts that work hard to keep the park clean and orderly.

Awesome campground! So many large level lots right on the water. Very clean restrooms and wonderful attendants. This is our favorite place to camp. We live 4 Hours away, but it is very worth the drive. I would give them an A+.

Check in staff were great. Immediately after entry gate there is a large, level space that you can disconnect motorhome from dinghy vehicle. Large site with a lot is space between site.

Gravel had washed off of site and it was very muddy. Camp hosts were very friendly/helpful, though.

This is an awesome campground! All of the lots have plenty of space and have wonderful views. I would highly recommend R. Shaefer Heard Campground. The host was very helpful and friendly. The COE parks in this area are the BEST!!!

Poor entrance signage. Not lit. No just ahead sign indicators. Went by. Thought to turn RV around on that road.

R. Shaefer Heard is a classic COE RV facility. Sites are nestled beneath a canopy of trees that extend to the shoreline of West Point Lake. Many of the sites are bordered by the lake itself. Many campers have their boats beached right at their campsites. This campground is quiet as a church mouse at night accept for the beautiful sounds of frogs and cicadas. Children having a good time can be heard all day. Water's edge sites slope gently down to the lake. Mobile phone coverage with Verizon is skosh. Satellite TV reception is blocked by the mature trees. Even over the air digital TV is iffy. Great place to go if you need to get away from your electronics. This campground is TIGHT. I stayed at sites 12 and 3 recently. My 5th wheel is 37 ft. nose to ladder and I tow with an extended cab long bed Ram Dually.......patience is required because nearly all backs into sites are blind backs. Call the campground office for advice before booking.....they are very helpful in providing advice as to which rig fits where. Interior roads could use some TLC. Man it would be nice to have a base of gravel at the sites. Presently, the floors of the sites are sand/dirt and the area has had plenty of rain. Take extra time when departing in order to get the dirt off your gear. I would stay again.

Nice campsites. Would be absolutely great if they had full hookups, including TV and Wifi. At many of the campsites, there is little to no tv or phone reception. Spending a week without these makes it tough! Great place to enjoy nature, ride bikes, swim, boat, etc. though.
