The park is great overall. We utilized multiple boat ramps and bathroom facilities. The boat ramps were well equipped and clean. The bathrooms need some cleaning and maintenance. Of all the campgrounds we have stayed at, these were the poorest bathroom facilities. Another maintenance issue that could have been better was the trash. There was more than the usual amount of trash at the camp sites and along the roads. The roads had lots of debris on them as well. Just pine straw and tree litter that could be easily blown off.

Our criterion for any place we visit is "would we go back". We would go back to this campground.

The campground is well maintained. Campground hosts, Leah and James Hardy, are very friendly and helpful. Go to Hunters Pub for an excellent dinner and an unforgettable experience.

Overall we really liked this park. It has several loops and all of them offer different pros and cons. We found a trail and a little private beach where we could let our dogs play and they loved it. Quiet and saw several bald eagles and deer. We were in site 79. Pros: - It had beautiful water views and easy access to the water for fishing and swimming. - Easy to back intoCons: - It was less private than I expected, you look directly onto site 80. - Bugs. So many bugs. They are harmless lake midges, however once it gets dark you cannot walk in and our of your camper without getting tons of them inside. - No shade for about 4 hours in the afternoon/evening. Sun shining directly into your face if attempting to sit outside. Biggest issue was we were told on our last day that we could not put our dog fence on the gravel pad due to complaints from tent campers and "sanitation reasons". It was in the instructions and we did not notice it so it is a fair rule. However we saw several families with them up on gravel pads also and it appears to be a selective enforcement. We aren't interested in breaking a rule so we won't go back to a site with a gravel pad again, but didn't like the fact it felt targeted. We also asked if there was a rule about the sites with no gravel pad, but a wooden deck instead and was told "there isn't a rule yet but we are trying to get one in place. These places would be better off if no pets were allowed at all." Which just really rubbed us the wrong way seeing as how our dogs are part of our family and I think most pet owners agree. So all in all it is a fine park and great if you don't have pets, but we likely won't return.

Nice spot right on the lake(site 79); the campground was quiet and clean. We had good Verizon signal. Bath House was clean and had good water pressure. There were lots of mosquitoes so bring your bug spray. Would go back.

Beautiful waterfront site. Gentleman who greeted us at the gate was delightful. Smiled while I did the usual dig out the id and pass routine. Had a nice conversation at the end of a driving day. Terriffic!

Plus: Great location! Beautiful setting at each of the two spots I used. I found facilities were easy to reach. Check-in/out were easy. Park location was close to a town which was nice as I had been traveling and needed resupply.Minus: Camp hostess was a bit sharp at check-in as my National Park pass wasnt signed. Bathroom facilities need serious attention, cleaning attendant needed something to control insects ie spiders, wasps that were plentiful. I would definitely use the park again.

The lake view was great. The site need some landscaping maintenance performed as in cutting back bushes and foliage and mowing the grass which was knee high. The ant infestation was also pretty bad amongst the site and nearby sites.

We love the level sites that are all paved with water and electricity. Oh yeah, every site is on the lake. This campground has only one problem, not enough BATH HOUSES OR SHOWERS. The loop we were on (site 79) had nothing, Look carefully where you pick if not self-contained. We stay here every time we head southwest. Make sure you get the US Govt access pass first.
