The park is lovely, with great views and hilly terrain. Lots of switchbacks and steep angles on roads - a buttclencher for long trailers. The campsites are flat, clean concrete, and our connections on Site #2 worked fine. The bathrooms are a hike from most sites, with only 1 bathroom on each loop. The federal budget changes and firings of federal employees seem to have hit this park hard, but the volunteer staff are really nice. Building maintenance seems to be deteriorating, and the gate entry building is always empty, with hand written notes posted. There is not much to do here without transport as it's very spread out, and hilly. Super quiet. Nice place , but probably wouldn't go back. The highlight was going into Elijay for the day.

One of my favorite campgrounds. Sites are very private and well spaced. Everything is very well managed and clean. Kudos to the volunteer team that do the hard work.

Nice location, level spacious sites. I prefer individual bath units which they have vs building with plastic curtain dividers. Gate house not manned but host tours grounds a couple times day.

Loved our stay there! Beautiful Park and Campground. Avid Campers and enjoyed the peacefulness of the mountain and lake. Great area!

The campground is well kept. The RV sites are spacious and have concrete pads.

A great experience! Unfortunately we did not get a site map and the closest bathroom to us was closed and we were unable to find another. It looks like they were under construction? Other than that this experience was a fantastic one and we would absolutely come back. Our view from campsite 2 was incredible (the lake is stunning), the site was clean, neighbors were polite and quiet, and the staff were very helpful. We were going no to be late coming in and the staff called to double check we were coming, were very informative, and when other campers accidentally set up on our site, they handled it and the site was ready for us as soon as we arrived. We cant wait to go back!

Beautiful area in Carter's Lake. Fall leaves and quiet. Town of Ellijay nearby with all your shopping needs in apple country. Campground is on winding road. New bath house being built on loop 1.

Excellent COE campground with nice concrete pads which require no leveling. Campground volunteers constantly patrolling the campground.

Every campsite is just beautiful. You sit amongst the tall pines....its so peaceful, the lake so beautiful and clean. Bring your kayaks!!! Too hilly for me to bike ride

A gem of a campground. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Very clean and well kept up. Doll Mountain will be one of our primary camp grounds.

The camp site was great! I was disappointed that beach was closed and we were hoping to rent a kayak. There were no maps of the whole Carter Lake area so we had a hard time trying to find the hiking trails. Our stay was during the week so there were no crowds so we felt very safe.
