the park is always nice and clean. Our site was perfect, easy access to the lake with our kayaks.

SITE 80 Whew! Barely made it into that one without sliding down the gravel hill with grooves in it. It is close to water but you'll have ot hike down. Cell service with T-mobile is is great, Wifi through Verizon home internet was great too. You'll get the afternoon sun here as it faces WEST. Site is a BACK IN and a little tight.

We have been camping at Petersburg for almost 20 years. Our experience is usually great, however not so much this last trip. We stayed during Masters week in Augusta, which usually means the campground is booked at 100% capacity. We were surprised to see the guard gate was hardly maned. Also, the C loop shower house had signs on it that said it was out of hot water and to go to another campground bathhouse. C loop consists of smaller campsites which draws mainly tent campers and non electric so this is probably the bathhouse most heavily used. 2 days from packing up I realized the hot water was either fixed or had never been out to begin with but the sign was left up. This bathhouse was also out of soap (we donated some of ours) and it looked like the stalls had just been sprayed with chemicals and never wiped down. This was very unfortunate for one of their busiest weeks of the year. The site to the left of ours was covered in leaves and grass and trash, like it had not been maintained. We also had the campground host/volunteer ask if we were just not going to leave. I showed them on my phone we had the proper booking, and they apologized and said they were having computer problems. Again this campground usually has an air of excitement and organization, especially this week of the year. I remember years past there were even games like horseshoes set up at various spots . It was unexpected to have deviated so much from its normal operating standard. Its a beautiful place to stay and convenient to town.

We had a beautiful campsite overlooking the lake. I would recommend this campground Highly. The only thing I can think of that needs improvement are the bath houses. They just need some updating and TLC, the bathhouses were cleaned every day, so not a cleanliness issue.

The only complaint I have is the bathroom by us was buggy. Otherwise the campsite was very nice and clean

I've camp at Petersburg many times over the years, find it to be beautiful an relaxing, and I will return.

Such an enjoyable place to camp. Very peaceful. We enjoyed kayaking, swimming and fishing. We visited the dam as well. I felt very safe being it only myself, mom, and her 13yr old son.The history on this place is incredible. We will definitely return.

We have camped here a handful of times. Always had the impression it was a peaceful place. The last time we camped there the parties raged until 3 in the morning. Really annoying. People screaming and yelling. Supposed to be no alcohol but there is no way that was being enforced. I think the problem is there is not a host like at the State Parks. We loved camping there but have decided not to anymore. Really disappointing. The bathrooms are not as nice as GA state parks.

Petersburg is one of our favorite Army Corps campgrounds. We have camped there a few times on our way heading north. We love the lake, hiking and biking trails. The campground is very well maintained and campsites are nice. The rangers and campground hosts there are very helpful.
