We spent New Years eve here. It was great! There had been quite a bit of damage done by a hurricane but I don't think it negatively impacted our experience. The scenery was still very beautiful and the restroom and showers were clean and well kept. I was sad that our stay here was so short. Plenty of space for hiking other activities.

This park is friendly with good sized camping spots, a lovely pavilion with grills, playground and swimming area. The water was clean and nice even though the lake was a little lower than normal. We love state parks!

Our reserved site had a tree that was questionable, so they moved us to a better site. Great campground, very friendly staff. Would recommend.

We enjoyed our experience at Petersburg but there was a great deal of logging going on during our visit so things were quite noisy and messy. Sorry that most sites are gravel very hard on tent flooring and outdoor mats. Im sure it makes for easier maintenance of course. We plan to return in the future. A beautiful park!

Great COE Site! The only negative is the signs that are used to show if a site is reserved or not. The way the reserved dates are written caused confusion, The site we wanted was open during the week days ( when we were going to be staying) but reserved for the upcoming weekend, You almost must get out of your vehicle and closely read the dates as all sites had the signs marked using the White "RESERVED" side of the sign verses the Green "AVAILIBLE " side.

This was my first-time camping, "tent camping" at that, with my 13-year-old boy and two dogs. I overpacked not realizing the available amenities. I took advantage of what was available saving extra work and cleanup upon the end of our adventure. We truly enjoyed our time and will definitely continue to do this as to disconnect from technology and appreciate the beautiful nature the good Lord has blessed us with. The staff at the front gate was very helpful and kind to answer my many questions. The only thing I didn't quite appreciate was that the gates don't open until 7am... I wake up pretty early (5am) and had "coffee issues" (1st time camper). The sites are equipped with grills, bathrooms, lake views, opportunity for Kayaking, paddle boarding, (which my son took advantage of), fishing, trails and playgrounds to name a few...just so many things to explore. I will definitely plan and pack better next time. Considering this trip, a recon!

Our first visit, first week in December 2021. Beautiful and very well maintained campground. Many sites are large, level and have a nice view if the lake. Firewood is not sold onsite. Small and many large pieces, some requiring splitting, were available within the park. In addition to a fire ring, picnic table and lantern post, theres an elevated table adjacent to the fire ring. We found it useful for our camp grill and stove. Both tables were recently painted. Viewed several fishermen in boats catching nice sized fish, and an eagle catching one on its second attempt. Snapping turtles, ducks, and turkey vultures were frequent visitors. We also saw a hawk.Though the water was 58 degrees F, there were several people on the lake in kayaks, small boats, sail boats and jet skis. We are looking forward to our next visit.
