always enjoy staying at Petersburg, even though the Hurricane took out a lot of the trees, it is still a very peaceful place to camp. Staff are helpful and always in a good mood.

The campground looks great after all the storm damage clean up. We camp there for many years our favorite local campground. Plenty of places to get things you need while camping. All ways quiet and peaceful.

We were so happy to be back at our corp of engineers campground. It was devastated by hurricane Helene, but it looks like Petersburg will be looking much better this spring and summer. They have done a great deal of work and we really appreciate it.

Petersburg is my favorite place to camp. Wish the whole park was open for winter and they would remodel the bathrooms. Also, wish the Corps of Engineers would build more camp sites since its hard to get spots during the summer. Camp site #5 is awesome. It is a really big site.

Very nice campground near Evans/Augusta, GA. We camped in site 5 with a 27 travel trailer in a very large site with a 50 Amp hook up and water. Access to the campground is via good, paved roads. Cell phone coverage was ok with Verizon 16 mb download/3.5mb upload. 16 channels of OTA TV with ABC and Fox as the only primes. Our site (#5) was a fine gravel, reasonably level, huge, private, and right on the lake with easy access for our 27-foot trailer. This site was next to the swimming beach and pavilion, so privacy might not be great during the summer. Not much activity there in March. The other sites varied in size, but generally large with privacy (some have steep entry and exit, so choose carefully). There was 1 restroom nearby (uphill hike) with a free washer and dryer. There were no doors on the showers (plastic curtains only), so leave your valuables at the RV. These were older facilities that could stand to be updated, but they were clean and had good hot water. There are 2 dump stations with reasonable access. The one closest to the ranger station has a tight turn to exit, but the 2nd one is good. This campground served as our base for exploring the area. The scenery here at the park was great right on the lake. There is occasional noise from boats during the weekend, but it is very quiet at night. We had grounding errors on both the 50-amp and 30-amp connections. The host was very helpful in getting a repair technician and everything was resolved (loose connections). We had a 50% discount with the Federal Golden Age Pass.

We stayed 2 nights at the Petersburg Campground (01/01/2023 and 01/02/2023) and our stay was an excellent experience. The site was large, clean and on the lake with a fantastic view. No issues with reservations, check-in or check-out. The bathroom / shower was good as well, good water pressure and temperature. The only requests, and we knew this going in, would be sewer hook-ups and access to the campground after 10:00pm (gate locks at 10:00pm).

The showers are awesome. Bathroom clean. Nice place for camping without having to be right next to other campers. There are tree breaks between campsites.

Petersburg Campground is our "Go to" campground. Plenty of sites on the water and they are spacious with lots of trees. Petersburg is the cleanest campground we've been to. Not to mention the lake is gorgeous!!! We've been twice this year and are ready to go back again!

The park overall is great - our favorite. It's looking so much better now that the volunteers are cleaning out some underbrush. I would like to see a lot more of this. I don't like the narrow side roads in the first loop - not big rig friendly. I see where some of the washed out areas are being repaired, but the site repairs (especially 56) are not anywhere close to level and the loose, heavy coating of gravel isn't packed at all and is going to be an issue and I can see people spinning out and digging it right back up.

Who’s supposed to police the boat ramp parking and boat dock ? Why aren’t ALL tags recorded , and untagged trailers given a park pass to be displayed on such trailers ? There is a nice overflow parking lot. The dock at the boat ramp is marked No Swimming ,not being enforced . How dangerous !!!!
