Stoney Fork was only 10 minutes off 81. It was our stop over to and from Nashville from Virginia Beach. We plan on a longer stay to enjoy the area in the spring.

Weve been coming to this campground for more than 10 years and its always been a great experience. It has gone downhill because campground rules are not enforced regarding pets being on a leash at all times and you cant even walk around the campground now without a barking dog charging you and your pet. Irresponsible dog owners not cleaning up after their pets is also a problem as we saw lots of waste throughout. We spoke to the host and told them about an incident we had with unleashed dog and there was little concern or response. We ended up leaving early- sad because this used to be such a great campground. It would be great if there were posted signs about leashed pets and cleaning up- also even though it clearly states it in the policies and rules the hosts should make it a priority to tell people pets must be leashed. Its just a matter of time before an attack or injury happens due to pet owners being irresponsible.

Very pretty, low-key, uncrowded (~ 50 sites) campground. Lushly forested. Lots of space between sites. Good hook-ups.

Loved our stay at Stony Fork Campground. The grounds are well kept and the sites are paved and are very private. This was our third time here and we will be back.

The spacious campsite had a level, paved parking spot for the camper and lots of room around the picnic table and fire pit.
Lovely small campground in a beautiful area. A little frustrating that there are so few sites with both water and electricity that can be reserved in advance, and the dump station is in need of something.

Nice campground, good privacy and separation between campsites. Ample shade. Hosts were friendly and accommodating. Restrooms were clean on the whole. Good hiking and motorcycle riding (the main purpose of my trip) in the area. I had electric and water hookups at my site, #32, (not all have them), but I was just barely able to connect my cord and hose. At the rear of the paved portion of the driveway was a parking lot-type concrete block which prevented further backing. Interesting that not all sites had this, and there was plenty of room beyond the block. I bring this up only because, with the power pedestal and water spigot near the rear the back of the site, a larger rig may have needed two power cords and/or hose segments, depending on where on the rig their connections are. The biggest nit to pick is that the picnic table legs were very short, and with the benches only 13" off the ground (I measured) it made the table useless for this 6'4" frame with inflexible and somewhat arthritic lower extremity joints. Other campsites had "normal" tables, though I noticed a couple that had similar short ones. But I saw one raised with blocks -- a seemingly simple and inexpensive solution short of replacing the table. It ain't pretty but it's functional. Why not do that for all of the shorties?? Minor issue: The hot water in the closest bathhouse was malfunctioning the last night I was there. The host alerted me as I was on the way to shower and directed me to the next closest, where it was fine.

Always a good spot for nice, quiet camping. Bathrooms are good enough and the people are friendly. We stop here for a night or two several times a year and always enjoy our stay.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
