Our camping club held a weekend rally in C Loop at the beginning of June. We had 13 trailers of all different sizes and everybody "fit". The sites are nicely graded and spacious. The bath house is good. The quiet and serene natural environment of an old CCC recreation area like Sherando is hard to top. Weather was excellent. Camp Host obliging. Favorite activity was hiking. The weekend surge of folks coming to use the picnic groves and the lake is very impressive and festive. Lots of smiling faces. A good-sized timber rattler tried to settle down in a nice warm wheel well for the evening. So, that was exciting. Access over the ridge to Nelson County is convenient. Access west to Waynesboro, etc.... is easy.

One of our favorite weekends of the year - camping at Sherando Lake. The campground is well maintained, the area is beautiful and cared for, and the staff is lovely. There is so much to do from playing in the creek, hiking, riding bikes and scooters, enjoying the beach and lake and spending time admiring the gorgeous scenery. The staff always welcome us with such enthusiasm and kind words and always plan fun events. Our kids always love the Memorial Day parade and they enjoyed the showing of Lion King at the amphitheater this year. We cant wait to return next again!

We now have stayed at this camp ground for a second visit and we love it. The first time we had a pretty short and tight site for our RV, but this second time we got a much better site. In loop C, most sites are fairly large, that is where we stayed. We had only electric. Water must be added to the fresh tank on your way in. The dump station is easily accessible. There is no internet, no OTA tv signal, but the place is beautiful and there are many places to go and visit here. If you need fire wood, make sure you buy from a really nice lady that will give you a very generous amount for $10, just a couple of miles outside the park. We now have marked this place as a target spot for when we travel the eastern states.

We enjoyed the Meadow campground with the open field in the center, but large, well-spaced sites, set back into the trees. Many hiking options ranging from moderate to difficult. Friendly campground hosts.

Overall the experience was great. The volunteer staff was nice and helpful. The bath house was clean. My only negative was not being able to take complete advantage of spot. I was in C16 and due to the placement of decorative stones, had to part my trailer at an angle and park my truck perpendicular. With the stones, this spot is not suitable trailers over 30ft and average crew cab truck.
