We just spent a lovely 3 days here and its now in our top 3 favorite places!! Nicely spaced shaded sites. Quiet. Hiking trails right in the campground. Clear lake snuggled into the mountain. Field full of starlight and fireflies. Perfection.1/2 star off due to difficulty communicating via phone to get our questions answered. 1/2 star off for very run down bathrooms. Probably top 3 worst campground bathroom I have experienced. The day use bath house near the lake is better. BUT we will definitely be back because ultimately we had a wonderful experience making beautiful memories with our baby.

The campsites were developed. The lake was beautiful and the hiking trail I used was nice. Enjoyed the bald overlook.

Very friendly campground with plenty of things to do. Swimming area in the lake, fishing and hiking as well.
Minimal cell coverage. Sites were well kept by a friendly host and all the other visitors were curious and friendly. A great place to visit and camp.

Nice clean campground. Well kept. Would be nice to have the option to purchase firewood especially when it’s cold.

The campground overall is a gem. Spacious tent camping pads with a very convenient and moveable camp/stove table as well as an updated firepit ring/grill combination where you can flip the grill grate completely out of the way.
Both lakes are beautiful with plenty of spaces to fish from shore, especially around the lower lake.
We stopped by Waynesboro on our way home, which is a cool little town about 20 mins north of the campground. We ate burgers from "The River" burger bar, which were very tasty. On the way out, we walked across the street to "The French Press" for some to-go espressos for the 3.5 hour drive back home, along with some pastries. Finding good non-chain coffee shops are somewhat tricky to find, especially for small towns. "The French Press" was very impressive.

If you're in to fly fishing, be sure to stop by "South River Flyshop". The three men working were very informative about the local waters, which flies, and everything else you'd want if you're not local.
